Lets stay side tracked. 53 years ago today.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Although the sidetracking's not bad..... I'll answer the question, in my opinion....
I think there's both.... maybe even 50/50. I think when he went way over the top, like calling Liston a bear or Frazier a gorilla.... and even brought little toy animals to press conferences.... I think that was pretty much show. However, he probably did have some dislike for some of his opponents, like maybe even Joe Frazier, who he considered to be somewhat of an "Uncle Tom." But then he would take that and carry it to the Nth power.... and that's the part I think was more show than anything else.

Cassius was fairly amicable for the 2nd Sonny Liston bout.
Cassius was a sportsman for the; Brian London, Karl Mildenberger and Zora Folley 'Championship Bouts'.
You know people are talking about Ali smack talk but lets be honest this game is more mental then physical at times. Ali would do shit talking to through the guy off and get in his head before they even stood in the ring which is a pretty smart move and i do not think he hated any of them.
Rocky Marciano would split Ali's spleen with a right from underneath. split, like blood pouring out.
