Japanese battleflags, interesting, what brought about that
I had a run in that caught me off guard years ago. She was Korean and came in to do relief work for a weekend and it turned into an interesting discussion, in the parking lot, on Banzai death charges and the atrocities committed by the Japanese army. Up until that point I never took the time to realize how some-few may find a problem or do a double take seeing The Rising sun. She knew of course I had no affiliation or backing for what was done, I sure as shat do not pass for Japanese or back what some still may hold in extreme views. She also had no idea who Christian Hosai was. I have one on my door ala a fighter ace during the war. In my way, what it means to me and a goofy symbol, its a reminder that I cheated death.

I think things or 'symbols' that some have become conditioned to except as offensive would be discovered as simply that and people would learn if they took time to actually TALK to someone they stereotype. I know that the Government getting involved in State issues is a slippery slope that will never stop. The flag is a side issue to me and distracts from lives lost and hate that grows no matter what a politician tries to ban while standing on a soap box.
