Tam if you keep telling the posters here on saddo's that you are 13 stone , then you may get a phone call from Peter fury , as you are the perfect size for his nephew .
Still alive Tam?
You say tomato,
‘n I say …… it correctly.
Firstly my opponent who I was suppose to box pulled out on the day of the fight so thankfully somebody else who was lighter stepped up. He was far more experienced than me me and was very tall and rangey. Strong as well and extremely fit. He had a very awkward style and was switch hitting a lot. The fight was good. I took control in the first round and took the fight to him. He was game as hell though and we both landed a lot of shots. I won the first round and he took the next round. He was holding me a lot and it was frustrating at times. It was hard to do anything in the clinch cos he was strong and lanky. I thought the referee could of been better in breaking us quicker to be honest. I took quite a few big uppercuts in the fight. I spoke to him afterwards and he said most people take a backwards step after taking big punches like that. But I kept going forward and was making him work. The final round was a draw, he was holding a lot but I thought I could of nicked it just about. The guy who puts on the show said he thought I just edged the last round. You can't argue with the draw though.
It was a hard fight and I was dissapointed that I took quite a lot of punches compared to my last fight where although I lost I was really impressed with my defence. He was a tricky opponent though and had the reach on me. Although I weighed more, he definatley hit just as hard as anybody I've been in with in the higher weights.
On the positive side at least I didn't lose, although I didn't win I wasn't too far of a win. This oppoenet was a lot harder than the one I had trained for as well. I think a rematch maybe down the line with more planning and what to expect next time would work in my favour. He was a good lad though and I was very grateful to him for stepping up with me being heavier and doing it on a days notice.
My plan is now is to enjoy my summer for the next month and have a few weekends on the beer. I'm still going to be in the gym as I don't want my weight to go up but I'm next in the ring in August in Liverpool. I might possibly be fighting at the end of August too in Liverpool. I've got another fight arranged September 5th in Liverpool and im fighting at the end of September in southport a home fight too. I was due to box next week in southport too but the show is off unfortunately. I've had 13 fights now and my target at the start of the year was to have 20 fights, so happy I'm getting close to that now.
Some pics of the fight. Funny the picture of me getting uppercutted. I do have a decent chin lol. There will definitely be a video of this one up soon. Hopefully there will be one of the one from last week too. I spoke to the lad who I boxed last week and he said he was in the ABA Nationals. Which is a bit annoying for me as I was told he was 4-0 in semi pro but he would have had an ABA record too which I wasn't told about. He told me he was turning pro soon as well Ashley King he's called.
Also at the fight on Friday I spoke to the referee about the fight I had in St helens and how good of a fight it was. I was so made up when he told me that out of every single semi pro fight he's ever refeered , the fight I had with the Eastern european lad was the best he's ever seen. I knew it was an amazing fight but I'm made up he said that. I seriously will do my best to get that video up one day. Loved that fight so much.
