Anybody watching the Pan Am Games?
This is a pretty deep thread. If you guys are going to start subtly slamming Canada then we first have to decipher what is and what is not a sport or we need to include such things as Equestrian, trampoline etc etc.
Other considerations might be population, a countries size, the climate, the amount of money spent and the fact that the UK is not a country.
*money is huge. If we put a fraction of the money you guys do into rowing and our athletes didnt have to have 2 part time jobs and live at home we'd do much better then we do and as it is we are usually in the top five from C-1 to the 8 man.

I could go on but this is about boxing. Like the Jewish people our best boxers were around for the most part before WW2 and then for about ten years after. It all ended in many ways with guys like Chuvalo and Durelle.
Today we have relied on imports to be sure and if not for Quebec we'd have no boxing community. But we all rely on imports right. Where was Mo Farah from?
Nobody is going to stack up to the rich history of Britain in boxing with or without that British/Jamaican/Canadian.
If Fury beats Wlad its pretty huge on paper but when you put it all into perspective we shouldn't be deceived by it. Wlads been undefeated for what 11 years and the way he has won and those he has fought will have a lot of people saying that he finally fought a guy his size that didn't stand right in front of him. But if Fury does pull it out will people actually believe that he is the best heavyweight in the world? Its for that reason that I would put it in line with Turpin beating Robinson. A one off.
