I think we have alien life on earth, they are called the Kardasians.

    Yes there is alien life.

Because the elements here on earth can be found in the cosmos, they probably have similarities with us. Consciousness (energy/spirit) however could exist outside of matter-any form of a (body).

Life force manifested through matter as flesh/body/vehicle-- probably differ from us- in that they don't know Budha, Krishna, Christ or Muhammad.

Nasa are making a big announcement tomorrow about something found on mars, people speculate it is either the discovery of flowing water or some form of tiny lifeform or something :S Might be interesting

At least 100 billion planets alone in the Milky Way that could support life. That is just in our galaxy.

Scientists estimate over 100 billion galaxies.

    The math seems overwhelming.

Its only our built in arrogance that suggests that since we have yet to find any, it does not exist. It took us until late last week to consider the possibility that running water exists on Mars. Still SETI has found nothing and the giant telescopes/cameras in deep space have seen nothing unless they have and have said nothing.

Flowing waters may have meant life existed on Mars.

    Or still does?

Been thinking about what I said here and you know its also quite possible that we are unique and there is no other life in our galaxy because nothing has found us either. We cant assume that they would be at the same level we are, less or greater then.

Also belief in other life somewhere is really no different then the belief in a designer or creator of this planet. I mean it really is astonishing given the math that we or they have not found each other. They must be there because of the math and yet no proof of their existence.

I truly question if world leaders would want it to be known.

It would totally destroy their best mind game of subservient: religion.

On another level, I like how one intellect raised the question: there could be life that we are totally incapable of grasping.

Like different forms of fish species in the deep that live and die without a clue that there is an end to their environment(water) called air.
And something could possibly survive...out of water, like animals, people and birds.

    Water literally is their universe.

Our physical bodies are like galaxies to living organisms we can't see.
Life form can be conscious, but not intellectual. Where there is both, intellect still seems to have its limits.

I'm not sure, but I think simple life is abundant in our galaxy and the rest of the universe, and there may even be simple life on Ganymede, Europa and Mars.

The primitive forms of complex life are probably uncommon (one in every 100,000 planets), but because of the size of the universe, are on many planets in the universe.

More evolved forms of complex life are rare (on about one in every 1,000,000 planets), but still, because of the enormous size of the universe, evolved complex life exists on many planets.

Intelligent life is probably very rare in the universe, on about 1-5 planets per large galaxy (like the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies).

But what exactly is intelligent life? Are crows, dolphins, and orangutans intelligent? Are ants intelligent? Are incirrina, which have amazing eyesight and complex brains?

Humans are an extremely destructive species, so I imagine if there were advanced, truly intelligent beings who are aware of us, they'd wipe up out before we go out to any other inhabited worlds.

We have the ability not to be destructive man has done some great things, 1900 first plane, not even a hundred years and we are on the moon. It is quite amazing if we were not all so caught up in our differences God knows what we could get done

It's true we have had some amazing accomplishments, but it's not only our differences that might worry an intelligent alien species, but the way we behave toward other life forms here on earth.

Humans have been causing the worst extinction event since the comet hit some 65 million years ago.

SETI has spent many years searching for alien signals coming from the central area of our galaxy (in and near the constellation of Sagittarius) where there are more stars. However, complex life could not evolve in such places because of more frequent powerful gamma ray bursts of deadly radiation from the merging of black holes and neutron stars.

They have recently realized they should have been looking at the outer areas of the Milky Way, where stars are far apart and collisions between black holes and neutron stars are rare events. We at 27,000 light years from the center of our galaxy are much less likely hit by powerful gamma radiation, it usually becomes too weak to be damaging by the time it reaches us although we do detect it.

It is possible that "the great dying" (Permian-Triassic extinction event) 250,000,000 million years ago was caused by a powerful gamma ray burst.

Complex life may be possible in only 10% of all galaxies
