Racism is not an angry thing. It's a system. They don't say "We only want upper middle class whites at Cambridge or Oxford or Harvard uni" but they create a system which pretty much ensures that. So when you see black people in high numbers jail, out or work, shot, homeless, that's the system of racism working as it should.

Couple of other things. Whites benefit from racism, psychologically and often materially. This causes them to turn a blind eye, to make excuses. Also the press, universities, scientific journals, museums, schoolbooks are controlled by whites, so they control what ppl think is the truth.

Racism makes you blind to racism and allows whites to live in a racist society and not notice. It seems “normal”. Blacks have twice the unemployment rate of whites? There must be something wrong with blacks. Whites live in neighbourhoods that are over 90% white? It is natural to want to live with one’s own.

No they certainly don't say "We only want upper middle class whites at Cambridge or Oxford or Harvard uni" because those establishments need to hit a quota, this is why Asians with near perfect grades were recently told by Harvard "Too bad dudes, we've reached our Asian quotas, come back when you're Hispanic, Black, Indian, or something else"....is THAT helping white people? It's certainly not helping Asians.

Are you going to give specific examples or are you just going to list things? Psychologically I'm benefitting from racism....how? Materially? Why do YOU think blacks have higher unemployment than whites? I am interested in what you attribute that to other than the catch all "racism"...what specifically leads to that?

Why ? Because you can't have a down without an up. If someone is getting the door slammed in there face, then others must be getting a pass. anyone who argues that white privilege does not exist must also argue that racism does not exist.

These benefits for whites can be

Material (such as greater opportunity in the labour market, or greater net worth, due to a history in which whites had the ability to accumulate wealth to a greater extent than persons of color)

Social (such as presumptions of competence, creditworthiness, law-abidingness, intelligence, etc.)

Psychological (such as not having to worry about triggering negative stereotypes, rarely having to feel out of place, not having to worry about racial profiling.)

If blk people are the targets of discrimination, in housing, employment, the justice system, or elsewhere, then whites, by definition, are being elevated above those persons of color.

The fact that white privilege exists and that all whites have access to various aspects of it, does not, however, mean that all whites are wealthy, or that in competitions for jobs and other opportunities, whites will always win.

But on balance, whites have a head start

I cannot imagine how blacks suffered over 400 years of being kidnapped, separated from their wives and children, sold like pieces of meat, forced to work for free, whipped, hanged, raped, murdered, stripped of their largely Muslim identity (they were all from West Africa which is largely Muslim---Guinea, Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Yamassoukrou, Ouagadougou, Senegal, Gambia, etc.... all largely Muslim peoples), and forced to become the Southern Black Baptist and to accept Jesus by white slave owners, forbidden to learn to read or write UNDER PENALTY OF DEATH.

I cannot imagine the lasting effects of this shit. 400 years is a long fucking time to live under these inhuman, destructive conditions. That was only 1 generation ago, and people thins blacks should just "get over it" in a blink of an eye.

My people came to America in 1915 and 1923. My grandfather told me how mean the Irish and other white shop owners were to us Italian peasants who just arrived. He couldnt get a job for years, whites would openly call him "grease ball" and "monkey" and "wop/dego/goombah" etc.... He told me one time how he went for a ditch-digging job in 1933 in New York, and the german-American guy in charge of hiring said to him "We'll put you kinky-haired greaseball to work with your nigger cousins digging ditches". He said the only jobs he and my great uncle could ever find were alongside black Americans digging ditches for huge pipelines. He said there would be 150 diggers on a team, and it would be 120 Backs and 30 Italians side by side. Blacks and Italians were very close back then

MY POINT ABOUT THAT: THE TINY LITTLE BIT THAT MY PEOPLE SUFFERED WHEN THEY GOT HERE IN 1923 WAS BAD ENOUGH, DISGUSTING ENOUGH, ETC... SO THEREFORE NOBODY CAN IMAGINE what black people were subjected to for 400 years. We can read about it, we can watch Alex Hailey's "Roots" all we like, but it can never tell us firsthand just what kind of personal/spiritual/permanent damage that shit did to them as a whole, and we can never put a timeline on it and say "OK, its 2015 so just forget it all and get over it."

You're not white, you can never be white, but you know 100% that every last damn white person there is "benefits from racism"....Certainly you wouldn't allow me to make such a broad sweeping statement about black people seeing how I'm not black and I don't live or experience firsthand the everyday lives of black people....but of course you're right you know, you're black, you cannot be told that you are wrong, least of all by me....because what do I know?


Material - Having a job is a help, lots of young blacks don't have jobs, but then again I can't venture to guess why they wouldn't because such a guess would be racist of course. Learning or being taught to save money is a help, I was taught by my Mom & Dad to save...2 parent household, so obviously there's another white privilege so I can't tell you to learn to save or try to teach you because it would be racist to attempt to intervene in the life of a black man in that manner.

Social - it's....against....the.....law......to....do...... that

Psychological - Offense is never given it is taken....so you "being triggered"....that's a YOU problem, not a ME problem. It's very easy to decide to be a victim......and that's why being a victim isn't something to be celebrated.


What do you owe "whites' head start" to? Slavery? The Tribal nature of Africa before colonization? I am actually curious to get the answer to that question.

I was just in Waterbury CT a tough city. Had to go to a very bad section to pick up supplies for a home improvement project I'm doing. On the way out I was approached by two African Americans who I guess could be perceived as thugs. They asked me for a cigarette. I then had a twenty minute conversation with them about the debate last night. They wanted to know what I thought of the black lives matter question. Yeah, so I'll take Capitalism

Capitalism at the level of people buying and selling local goods is fantastic. You have a controlled supply of money and it circulates. Instead we have banks/central banks who produce 97% of the money and most of the money goes to the super rich who horde it away. That is a bastardisation of capitalism and has more in common with Soviet Communism.

What I advocate is capitalism, but capitalism run in the interests of local community, environmental safety, quality of life and a great way to do that would be through collectives. Kick out the senior management who suck it all away and the shareholders who don't care and have local people producing things and sharing the resources and wealth themselves. Take the infrastructure, make it local and caring, and everybody can share in the wealth. Capitalism in today's form means slavery for most and crony benefits for the elite.
