I have been saying that this was a complete mismatch. Lemieux should have come straight forward from the beginning and just hoped to land something big. I have no idea why he would try to box. Makes zero sense.

Golovkin's jab is dynamite man. That's a 345-5 jab. You can only get past that occasionally when Golovkin has determined that you're not much of a threat if you do.
I'd love to see Golovkin - Ward. I don't think there's any chance it happens in the forseeable but that's the only fight that either of them currently face a proper challenge.

I re-watched some of Lemieux's fights the last couple of days. He can punch. But he's not the monster puncher he's made out to be. The best fighters he's stopped have been B fighters Gabriel Rosado and Fernando Guerrero. The Rosado stoppage was bogus and Guerrero is a fighter who's been stopped in every one of his losses. He couldn't do shit against Joachim Alcine. A fighter who had been stopped in the 1st round going into the Lemieux fight and than got stopped in the 1st in his next fight after Lemieux. Alvarez destroys him
He may not have the same power as the guy that just stopped him but few do and they are not in this division. David is by far the second biggest puncher at 160 and like I said you have to land first. He would have little trouble landing on Alvarez because he also prefers the pocket and comes to a complete stop before he throws a power shot. Lets hope they meet which they will and you can take that to the bank. We will see who is left standing when they do. Its a sure fight for Alvarez win or lose against Cotto. Cotto most likely retires should he win.
The fact that he does coast a bit bothers me. He did it with Monroe last out, ever so slightly he looks bored and gives up that head. For all the talk Ward doesn't 'act' like Golovkin is on his radar. Golovkin goes for blown up names and headliners below and Ward goes up for blown up journeymen above.
Wonder if face first but willing Johnson was on undercard for a reason..
And props to lemieux for stepping up to the plate and taking the fight. He didn't have ti showed hear t n chin
Dominant performance and business as usual from GGG.
A bit of a letdown for us fans ago wanted a shootout or war not a boxing clinic.
Agreed. I think Alvarez would face the Kazak also but Oscar would take an optional first. I think its more then likely that its David. Promotes both guys makes it almost a shoe-in. The irony regardless is that they would be fighting for the Ring title when the real champion still waits for the thing.
Who knows though, the way Oscar talked to tonight he's going back to an era when the best fought the best and I suppose he started with tonight because he could have milked Lemieux and waited on the winner of Cotto/Alvarez and set up an in-house unification had Alvarez won. Oscar also said tonight that David was in a no lose situation which already suggests a contingency plan. As if they already told him that if he fights the Kazak now he was guaranteed the winner of Cotto/Alvarez.
