Either he stays and dominates at MW for the next 5 years or else he finds a smaller man to fill up and meet him or he moves up himself. I can understand the desire for him to go up and beat Ward, but if GGG is really comfortable at MW, then why not just reign supreme there? It's a bit frustrating as a fan to have him fight relatively easy fights like this one, but it seems to be the best MW has at the moment. It happens in boxing. Divisions have their lulls and then 4 or 5 new guys start to make something happen. They duke it out and the lull starts again. A division is cyclical somewhat akin to the earths orbit around the star at the center of this particular solar system within the confines of a galaxy hurtling deep into the computer screen of a nerd who isn't even paying any attention. MW will bounce back and GGG will either be at SMW or a little bit older and more beatable.
Look through MWs history and you will see far more down times than up times.

As for Lemieux being top 5 as stated in the OP, perhaps, but we have no proof of that. He hasn't beaten other top guys to say he surely is. It's purely speculative. I think in the long run we find out he is quite limited but can punch, similar to Lee, similar to Quillen. It's also possible that those guys would beat Lemiex, and possible others. Let's not build him up, let his fights speak for themselves. I think GGGs opponents have had enough building up. Let's just look at what they do. GGG most of us would say is a rare talent, let's see if he proves it. Let's not give him anything, if he is as good as we think he will take it.
