    Default Prichard Colon

Prichard Colon undergoes brain surgery following defeat by Terrell Williams* | Daily Mail Online

Anyone know of any developments with Prichard Colon?

Odd fight, plenty going on. Colon was obviously shaken up by the blatant clump on the back of the head in round seven. There's an argument it could have been stopped there, if a fighter gets up and starts wobbling around off of a legit punch they're generally out of there. The same should apply to a foul?

In a twist of fate a bit of shockingly shite corner work saved him from further damage. Colon's corner clearly cant count all the way to ten so cut his gloves off after the ninth thinking the fight was over.

Thoughts are with him, poor fucker.

Bizarre fight, this is the only footage apparantley and it's just a few knockdowns.
The story is that Colons corner deliberately started unwrapping his gloves to buy time for him to recover but i don't buy that, you'd have to be a blind man and with 3 guys in his corner the chances of not one of them realizing there was another round is impossible.
I heard he started throwing up etc not long after the fight and they rushed him to hospital and induced a coma.

His Dad stated earlier that he has moved his hand which is good news so quick after the coma was induced but he's still critical i think.

I gave Colon some shat during the fight for his tactics and approach of leaning in to clinch..leading with it at times but hope to hell he pulls out of this. Initially I took the corner cutting of gloves a sign of calling it done, clearly Colon was unfit to continue, then it got dicey with commission jumping in and calling DQ. Even if corner was stopping it, don't know they would correct ref and commission by saying 'nah, we were just calling it quits by tko'? Regardless..best thoughts to he and family, Seems career is over so hopefully he can carry on a quality life.

Scary whenever we hear about bleeding on the brain and induced coma.

Hope and pray he makes it through this.

It is a risky sport for sure, I suffered my first ever concussion from boxing a couple of weeks back. I was stupid though and was sparring countless amounts of rounds for 4 days straight against pros and high end semi pro fighters and it all caught up with me by the end of it, I wasn't ever put down it was just taking a lot of big punches, and that was with headguard and 16oz gloves. I am not doing as much sparring for sure now because it was a kick up the ass I needed. Its horrible when you hear about stuff like this too. And what happened a couple of weeks back is a reminder on a personal level of how tough this sport is and competing a lot.

This is why im not fighting now until early December, need a bit of time off from fighting all of the time. The fight in Malta though was one I cant refuse and in the mean time im working on tightening up my defense and have really good fitness for the fight. I have sparred since this happened and I am fine, just was a bit of a horrible, mainly for family members seeing me damaged like that. I was accused of being on drugs I was that out of it, but the doctors cleared that up that I wasn't and it was concussion for sure.

You need to be careful Tam. Defence and head movement is simple but vital part of the game. You get hit too much.

All learning, end of the day I'm not claiming to be anything special I'm just an ordinary lad giving it a good go. But we have been working on defence, think having a longer break and working on things you will see the improvements. Even in my last fight, still need to get that video.

Moving your head, using your feet and blocking punches is why it is called boxing. Be smart.

You mentioned before that you occasionally work the corner. Are you still at it and is it something you enjoy or are you just helping out your friends? Just curious.

I just do it to help out friends and they return the favour to me if I need them. It's just how we do it things in are gym. I enjoy it though,
Close up to the action and get to help your friend.

I was suppose to be fighting November 6th in the Adelphi hotel in Liverpool but I've pulled out of the card with the slight concussion and moving down from 13 stone to 12 stone. I've got more time to work on things in the gym and want to be 110% ready for this next fight. It's looking like I am going to have to do 6 rounds so I need to be fitter than ever, so I'm working very hard for this fight in Malta.

I'm still going to the show though , I've been asked to be a judge by the guy who puts on the show. I'm glad I've watched a lot of fights and been to these shows because I will be fine in stepping up to this role. I'm really excited actually as it's something I've never done before.

It's horrible when this happens to any fighter.
My best wishes for a speedy recovery to Prichard... and my heartfelt sympathy to Prichard's family.
