A dozen or so years ago, I was on this forum calling Muhammad Abdullaev the next Duran...
Had a soft spot for Richard Evatt; and thought the Tiger may turn out to be the best of the new crop of British Feathers who came through in the mid 90s.

2 Manchester fighters I liked as a teenager , Tony the Tiger Ekubia and pat black flash Barrett I had high hopes for both but they never went on to win world honours .
Tony actually lives 100 yards from me and we chat often, his fights with Andy holligan where top draw.
David Reid. Entertaining fighter, but took WAY took many punches to the head and was swollen up in damn near every fight in his young career. There was no way he was going to last long at that rate and style.
Please don't tell me you're from the North West Al. With your penchant for good food and fine wines, and your fine use of the Queen's English in my imagination, I had you down as from Kensington or Mayfair.
Anyway for me, it was Dave "boy" Green , Errol Christie and Herrol Graham. Depends what is classed as "Making it". I feel Graham made it , but he didn't become World champ.

John Duddy- no defense
Ike Ibeabuchi- promising career cut short
Edwin Valero- same thing
Jesus Soto Karass- brawler fun fights to watch
Gerald McClellan-Was on his way but a dirty fighting Benn stopped em
Kid Akeem- got in a war with Quiroga and it was too much
I think John Duddy did all he was going to do. He was a good solid fighter kind of a "tweener" though not quite small enough to stay at 154 and dominate but not really big enough to really hang with the elites at 160 and damn sure too small for 168.
He was a very tough rugged fighter, I enjoyed his style. And to only lose 2 times by decisions no less.....that's impressive for him IMO.
I would say he did more with his talent than Andy Lee has done with his so far.
Did no one fess up to being a Kid Diamond mark? You remember Almazbek Raiymkulov don't you guys?
What about 'The All American Boy' Jason Litzau?
