It good to see GGG actively pursuing the belts. Take Saunders and then Canelo. I don't really know what options saunders has now. A rematch with lee maybe (but lee mentioned winding up his career) and his late start and coming up short kind of puts a damper on that. If saunders takes the GGG fight, he gets more money that he's probably ever made and no shame if he loses to GGG, which is probably his safest bet. After that he would still have appeal in the UK.
If he holds the belt and avoids GGG, he doesn't make the big money and goes the kell brook route. Canelo has appeal and a bigger appeal with or without the belt, which guarantees him a decent check no matter who he fights. Nursing that title would work out better for Saunders if the straps were evenly spread around. But it looks as though the world has...

GGG -- [WBA (Super), IBO, WBC (Interim) and IBF Champ] supposedly to lock in a fight with the official WBC titlist in Canelo in September.

This leaves Saunders with the 4th belt (wbo) sitting on the shelf sucking his thumb till the dust has settled. Without a local rival that can really drum up some publicity (like a khan could for Brook-- maybe Eubank is that? Brits Chime in...) ... i don't think it will pan out the way he thinks if he plans on simmering, building his brand and racking up money till a year from now (3 months after the rumored September fight.

Actually, i'd be looking to fight Canelo in the interim if i were Saunders (Canelo brings even more bargaining power to the table with the WBO added to his WBC when he fights GGG) so I'd have something he wants. He stands more chance outboxing Canelo than GGG provided he stays on his bike and uses his head movement. If he outboxes canelo and loses on popularity. He still can make a case for fighting GGG (whether he's the winner/loser of the canelo fight) if GGG doesn't move up right after unifying.

Whatever he does, Saunders has to strike while the irons hot.... people are already starting to forget his name. At the very least, enter negotiations with someone and leech himself some coat tail publicity.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Wholeheartedly agree with the above. Saunders should be pursuing Canelo, and to be honest, it's a fight he can win. Canelo doesn't fight 3 minutes a round and Saunders may well nick rounds which could be the undoing of Canelo.
The only problem I can see is that I reckon in his interim fight before GGG , Canelo will make someone boil down to 157 or 158, and Saunders has absolutely no chance of doing that.
Either way, Saunders will make very good money fighting Canelo or GGG , and there will always be a nice payday back home with Eubank Jr. to beat again.

No chance this happens. It's just typical Warren doing what he always does, links his champions with the big names to get the publicity. He's been doing the same for years. Find any Warren belt holder that hasn't had a few gimme defences after winning the title.

Billy Joe will fight somebody obscure ranked in the WBO top 15 in his next fight, that's a virtual cert.

I think it will have to be a big fight. Boxnation are launching a PPV service and I reckon BJS first defense will be the first PPV fight so if he wants to sell it it will have to be a decent fight.

Billy Joe can't carry a PPV judging by the Lee numbers. Maybe against Eubank jr but that wont be next.

Warren will be breaking the habit of a lifetime if Billy Joe doesn't get an easy defense.

I hear what you're saying, and you could be right. But to be fair, this has all come from GGG's side. I don't think it's Warren who has been forcing it, although admittedly it doesn't do him any harm. 😄

Yeah I've seen GGG's side calling them out, they want to unify the division. Billy Joe even said he'd fight him if he gets a fortune. But that's not gonna happen. And Warren is just playing with it in public.

Fuck knows how anyone can think Billy Joe has a chance against Golovkin. And I think he's a terrific boxer. Golovkin is special.

I have always been a big Saunders fan but Golovkin pens him in and takes away that speed and elusiveness which have got BJS to where he is now. Ross is right in that he doesn't get tagged much but I think Canelo probably carries more power than Eubank Jr and GGG most certainly does. Either fight should not end his career but Warren will probably look for an easy one next.

Wait ppv box nation! No way! How can the evil ppv format still continue? It needs to die and never come back. These greedy promoters make me sick and killing the sport of next generation of fans. Sad news to start 2016.

Very good point, I overlooked the canelo catch-weight stips.
