Who in the current era would have had the best chance of beating Floyd?
I think Floyd would have had to move up to Middleweight to find the man who could really cause serious problems and those problems for me would only come against GGG. Even then I think I'd just favour Floyd. He is/was a master at negating opponents strengths and we have never seen Golovkin up against someone like that. I really wanted Floyd to take that huge chance for hiis very last fight but he chose the easy option in Berto unfortunately for us fans.
This current era? I'm not sure anybody. I mean, sure, there would probably be a random person or two who had the right style match up and could win but from welter down, I wouldn't favor anyone in the slightest.
On a level playing field no where near Vegas & the blatant corruption several fighters had a very good chance of beating him Sadly no one was given the chance to do it.
He avoided the dangerous opponents & those he did fight he stacked the deck against them till they had no chance. As it was2 fighters did beat him in my opinion Castillo & Maidana. But as always the vegas officials made sure he kept his 0
Now with the IV gate scandal breaking & the NSAC refusing to investigate it looks almost certain he'd been Cheating a long time probably most of his career with the Commissions blessing. A very sad time for boxing
I was hoping the op meant "modern era"
hatton would have beaten him with a decent ref
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
I think any fighter COULD have beaten Floyd, if they caught him on the right night with the right punch in the right place. I also agree that Castillo won the first fight and was robbed of the decision. That being said, I don't think I make ANYONE a favorite over Floyd from 147 and down. I give prime versions of Mosely, Oscar, Sweet Pea Whitaker, and Julio Ceasar Chavez even money against him, and make prime Kostya and Cotto slight underdogs.
I watched Oscar-Mosley 1 again the other week. Was left thinking both of them (2000 version) would have beaten Floyd at welterweight.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Nobody would've beat him now just like nobody beat him while he was around.
If he made a comeback in about a year or so, he'd be 40 and naturally there's gonna be someone come round who might've done him, but let's face facts, he ain't coming back and he ain't getting beat!
I think it all depends. Floyd rarely fought the best at their peak. Pacquiao v Floyd was a lot closer fight 6 years ago rather than when it took place. Mind you I still have Floyd beating the prime version of Pac.
I think Golovkin would have beaten him at 154, I also think guys like Lara and Andrade also give him a harder time then anyone else he fought. I also think Crawford could beat him.
