You have to take into account that Billy Joe is only 26.

He can have a few fights over the year to make that money in fights that he would start favourite. It's all very well saying it doesn't matter if he gets bashed up. But it does matter in reality. There's no guarantee a beaten fighter will get back to the top after being knocked off.
Big Dog, you're rationalizing Saunders' decision to duck GGG. Fine. But, let's call it what it is: a blatant duck. He was offered $3MM U.S. to face the perceived best in the division in a unification fight, enough money to make most fights in the entire sport worth it. If he avoids GGG, he shows his true colors. All this nonsense that he is a traveling man and fighting is in his genes is pure bullocks.

Dependant on the challenger I believe Saunders should get at least £100,000 for a routine defence against a no name challenger.

Ok that was a stretch, but Rosado did have talent and was pretty good when GGG brutalized him, and Murray I stand by. Saunders is a good boxer, not a great one or a special talent imo. He wouldn't be able to do anything in this fight.

Master, as John McEnroe once said "you cannot be serious!" When Lee fought Quillin, he paid Saunders more than that in step aside money. Eubank Jr. Is getting more than that for a nothing fight with O'Sullivan and a British title fight, and so is Blackwell.
Saunders will earn at least half a million for a standard defence. He would earn a Million for a defence against Eubank and Eubank would probably earn £400k-£500k.
He's bleeding GGG for every penny he can get from him rightly or wrongly.
Yes , he's ducking him, yes, that's wrong and yes he should fight meaningful fights, but the Governing bodies let them get away with Murder.
He's been offered £2 million to fight GGG , I reckon if he can get £2.5-£3 Million , he'd take the fight. I don't reckon they will stretch that far and who can blame them.
I know that's crazy, but it's the way it is. Don't forget , Joshua just got £3 million for a British title fight!

No way 1/2 million pounds for a fight with a no body. This is Frank Warren we are talking about.

Trust me, if he thought he could earn 5 times more with Matchroom than with Warren, he'd be off like a shot.
If he leaves Warren, what's Warren got left?

    A "duck" that makes sense.

How long will it take him to make $3 million? Three or four defenses of his title? He could make more than that in under a year with the right opponent (Eubank Jr). He's 26 not 36.
