well he most likely could have but that really isn't how boxing works. Szpilka has a a big polish american following so he brings a lot of interest from america and poland and to be honest I think he could beat the majority of the people in the top 15 he is fairly talented.

In fairness Martin made no sense at all receiving a title shot. Has to be one of the top ugliest inconclusive wins in heavyweight title history.

I have to say, it looked like it made sense for 8 rounds. I don't know what the official cards looked like through those 8 rounds, but it looked like Spzilka belonged in there to me.

Sanctioning bodies don't care about their own ranking systems. They put together whichever fights they want. Spilka is better than most HWs though so the fight wasn't too disappointing.
