Foreign boxers have been robbed many times in the USA. It happens in most countries.

That being said, I can't think of a single fight where a foreign boxer was robbed in either Ukraine or Russia.

He's the Champ, so it's only fair he fights at home. Tbh , he's gonna need every advantage he can get in my book.
Like iaminuit says, he'd better hope it doesn't go to purse bids, although he will be rewarded handsomely for losing his title.

Read about what happened to Oquendo fighting Chagaev there a couple years ago. I can't think of a single more notable fight to ever take place in Russia at all, for that matter? Maybe that's for a reason.

Unless they low ball Povetkin there is no reason for a purse bid but I see it happening over something silly though. I just do. Haymon wont win that one. Imo purse bids should only happen in unification's. Home ice is a card the champion has to play, not the challenger.

I think he'll play it safe and hold all the cards in a unification with Martin. My god, can't believe we're talking unification with two guys with still so many unanswered questions. Find a neutral site of buy a jacket ffs.

    LOL.

I guess that's possible but I just don't see Povetkin stepping aside like Golovkin has however the WBC is involved and they are as slippery as eels in a pail of snot. See Alvarez for a current example.

It was good to see Povetkin ringside. Up close and personal for Wilder. Thought all along a co main with another trinket warmer almost seems insurance policy. Wilder needs to forget about Fury now, same for Fury with Wlad up. I get not wanting to Russia but honestly a guy should be just as hesitant to go to Argentina or any site involving 3 Texas judges .

You know, the Ibf has kind of made a move on its own here. They don't seem keen on unification either. The WBC claims to not want their champ carrying another but that depends on who it is of course. Its as if all the governing bodies breathed a sigh of relief the moment Wlad was beat and the fragmentation began.

I struggle to see any other outcome if/when these 2 go head to head other than a dominant win for Povetkin. I think the Russian is just far too polished a fighter for Wilder and I'd be pretty confident of it ending in spectacular fashion and quite early too.

To be fair why would the champ go to the challengers backyard. That does not make since if you are the belt holder the other guy should come to your place and fight it out. Worse comes to worse just go to vegas because that is a pretty neutral place to go and it is fight capital.

How many more fights does he need in America?

Hes supposed to be a WORLD champion, not an American champion. Too many Americans never venture outside of America its sad really. Ali did it, travelled the world and fought.

errr wladimir v povetkin.... fight went to purse bid and povetkins team won so the fight happened in russia.... The russian "business men" certainly have the cash to win whatever purse bid they feel like
