Pathetic on Canelos part to accept/make this fight. GGG is the top middleweight and this is a blatant duck, made worse by the fact that he chose a man two weight divisions south who has a suspect chin and stamina issues. Ring magazine and the pertinent alphabet organization should strip him of his title and recognition as champion.

I agree with the observation that Khan will outbox Canelo early, however. I see Khan leading on points until his stamina issues surface, allowing Canelo to catch him solidly on his suspect chin. If Algieri and Maidana were able to make Khan wilt, the much larger Canelo will be able to also. I'm betting Canelo stops him between rounds 8-11.

That's all fair comment, but if it's such an interesting fight, then don't make it for the title.
The reality is, that if there wasn't a title at stake , a.) it wouldn't generate as much interest, and b.) it would have a touch of the "Circus act" look about it.
at the end of the day, a World Title fight should NEVER have a catchweight or weight limit other than the official division weight limit.
all very true, but not the worst situation for a world title fight there's ever been

Charles Martin is World Heavyweight champ, alright his fight wasn't a catch weight and both fighters had fought at HW before but common, legitimate?

there's probably been 50 less legitimate world title fights per year for the last 10 years
hmmm, depends on whether we're talking worthiness or matchup or what. we'll see what happens, you never know , Khan could easily prove me wrong, but the point is that there might as well not be weight categories or Governing bodies if this sort of matchup is made.
if Khan were to win, he would have to fight GGG as his mandatory. now , I don't believe that fight happens , and tbh I hope it doesn't , because I seriously believe that would be dangerous!

for the record I really don't think khan will win

alverez will be too big and too tough and he will walk through khans punches and sooner or later he will land, i don't think khan can be fit enough to keep up his style for 12 rounds against a much bigger man

    but I hope I'm wrong

Well what ever next ! has Khan had a lobotomy brave and stupid all in one.
Canelo is going to take some beating bigger stronger, if a light welter can put
Khan away, Canelo needs a named opponent good fight yes a bit of a shock this one.

Canello has blatantly avoided Golovkin here but Khan is in a win win situation, he's gonna make BIG money and even if he does lose nobody will care because he's taken a risk by fighting a bigger guy.

If he does win (which I think he will do and very easily) then he's set up for a massive payday next where he can go the Brook route.

I will say it again.... this is an EASY nights work for Amir IF he boxes clever.

Canello will simply be made to look stupid, clueless, slow and very ordinary just like when he chased Floyd around the ring all night

It's Amirs to lose this fight and if he sticks to a strict gameplan he wins every single round.

Bull and Matador stuff, Canello is a slow fighter and Amir is lightning fast.
Khan knows that one mistake and he's going to sleep, I don't think he'll make that mistake.
I do think he'll make the Ginger one look a mug for 12 rounds though

IT STARTS! This is where everybody makes Khan out to be this super skilled elusive fighter . If he can't keep Algieri off him for 12 rounds , how the fuck is he gonna keep Canelo from coming forward?
Manny kept Algieri from coming forward by putting him on his ass 6 times!!! Do we think Manny would beat Canelo "easily"? hmmm

Smash you could be right but 36 minutes trying to avoid getting hit it's a big ask, he could do it
but Khan has not really been impressive at welter has he, wobbly jelly legs if Khan was the man in the iron mask he would win, but in reality he has a china cup covering his chin mate.

Khan isn't a defensive genius. He isn't mayweather. He has fast hands. He is a good boxer but has multiple flaws and has lost multiple times. I rate Canelo higher than khan on a p4p basis so with the weight advantage, its easy nights work for canelo.

Khan will one day wake up in the morning training for this fight and think to himself WTF have I done!

    I'm so cynical about this.

It's a blatant PPV pitch for non boxing fans. Khan has an army of mainly stupid followers in the UK who will shell out to see this, and Alvarez has an army of mainly stupid followers in Mexico who will shell out to see this. It's an 'event' fight for the non initiated.

    In terms of people who (think they) know a bit about boxing;

    - it's a junior middleweight fight for the full middleweight 'title', being contested by a guy who isn't even ranked at super welter and a guy who wasn't ranked at middleweight until his last fight.
    - Canelo enters the ring at about 170 for this fight, so he outweighs Khans fighting weight by over 20 pounds.
    - if I was a true middleweight, I'd be pretty depressed at having a titleholder at my weight who has no intention of defending against a real middleweight
    - shame on Alvarez. This is the equivalent of Kovalev defending his title against Juan Manuel Marquez at the super middleweight limit
    - this seems quite ballsy by Khan,as everyone will expect him to get knocked the fuck out, especially when you consider his suspect chin. I suspect he has been chasing a career ending payday for a couple of years against Mayweather or Pac, been unsuccessful, and he is no being throw to the wolves for his last big payday.
    - HOWEVER, if he does get bashed up, this doesn't harm his name so he can still check out with a loss to Kell Brook

Having said all that, if he pulls it off it will rank with one of the best wins by a British fighter ever.

    Golovkin must be absolutely furious!!.
