Khan isn't a defensive genius. He isn't mayweather. He has fast hands. He is a good boxer but has multiple flaws and has lost multiple times. I rate Canelo higher than khan on a p4p basis so with the weight advantage, its easy nights work for canelo.

Khan will one day wake up in the morning training for this fight and think to himself WTF have I done!

    I'm so cynical about this.

It's a blatant PPV pitch for non boxing fans. Khan has an army of mainly stupid followers in the UK who will shell out to see this, and Alvarez has an army of mainly stupid followers in Mexico who will shell out to see this. It's an 'event' fight for the non initiated.

    In terms of people who (think they) know a bit about boxing;

    - it's a junior middleweight fight for the full middleweight 'title', being contested by a guy who isn't even ranked at super welter and a guy who wasn't ranked at middleweight until his last fight.
    - Canelo enters the ring at about 170 for this fight, so he outweighs Khans fighting weight by over 20 pounds.
    - if I was a true middleweight, I'd be pretty depressed at having a titleholder at my weight who has no intention of defending against a real middleweight
    - shame on Alvarez. This is the equivalent of Kovalev defending his title against Juan Manuel Marquez at the super middleweight limit
    - this seems quite ballsy by Khan,as everyone will expect him to get knocked the fuck out, especially when you consider his suspect chin. I suspect he has been chasing a career ending payday for a couple of years against Mayweather or Pac, been unsuccessful, and he is no being throw to the wolves for his last big payday.
    - HOWEVER, if he does get bashed up, this doesn't harm his name so he can still check out with a loss to Kell Brook

Having said all that, if he pulls it off it will rank with one of the best wins by a British fighter ever.

Brooks must be pissed really but can not say it.

Kell Brook admits Amir Khan has made a shrewd move in agreeing to fight Saul Alvarez and is still hopeful of a clash in the future.

Khan (31-3-KO19) and IBF world welterweight champion Brook (35-0-KO24) had been involved in lengthy negotiations with a view to clashing at Wembley in the summer, but Khan has signed up elsewhere.

The Bolton fighter, 29, has agreed to take on WBC world middleweight champion 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1-KO32) at a catchweight of 155lbs in Las Vegas on May 7.
Reacting to the news, Brook told Sky Sports News HQ: "I don't know if he's cashing himself in or what but I don't believe he thinks he can win. That's me being honest. He'll lose in that fight.

"They can always come back down and fight the welterweights of the world. If he'd got in with me, which we all expected, I'd definitely end his career.

Him fighting at middleweight against Canelo, he can always say 'the guy was too big for me. I thought this and I thought that.' He can come up with that and drop back down so it's win-win for Khan I think.

"It's [Khan v Brook] always going to be on the table. It's a good move he's done. With the demand we still have to sit down and talk. As much as I'd like to say 'get lost', with the demand from fans all over the world, they'll still want to see that fight."

Next up for Brook is mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier, who he hosts in Sheffield on March 26, live on Sky Sports.

Looking at Khan's inactivity since Garcia and some of the questionable performances and opposition, I think this must be a cashing out fight. If Khan was really hungry he would be busier. It makes no sense to take this fight beyond the pay day. All it takes is a Canelo flurry to have Khan on queer street. So strange.

I woke up this morning and my first thought was still disbelief that this fight got made. Big balls by Khan but he's basically just the Cinco de Mayo 2016 version of Josesito Lopez.

Khan doesn't have the ring IQ or defense to do what Floyd or even Lara did.
