Without looking it up do you know who would be the most famous boxing referee ever, known the world over? There are two one an ex pro the other not. More interesting is the one who wasn't.

Earl hebner! wait wrong sport :S
I know Joe Louis reffed a bunch of fights, couldn't say which though. No idea on the other guy, would guess say Mills Lane or Richard Steele but sounds like those aren't him..
Wyatt Earp?
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
Joe Walcott and mills lane because of his TV show
Yeah I was thinking Wyatt Earp has to be the more famous. Reffed the heavyweight championship. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzsimmons_vs._Sharkey
But Mils Lane is quoted as being the more famous he is No1 so the records say.
So two winners.![]()

Which 'Highwayman' was the first fighter of colour to win a British title?
"Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."
George Foreman
Was going with Dempsey and Mills at first. I think his show was an afterthought in fame. Mills was just that damn good, one of the last 'enforcers' but without looking like a chatty camera clinger like Cortez or a Jack reiss.
Name the fight which was stopped by the referee to save both fighters from further punishment?
not many people know but the ref in the Johnny Nelson v Carlos De Leon fight was banned for life after the fight , for not stopping the fight to save the crowd from further punishment![]()
What is the only known occasion of a father fighting his son in a pro fight?
"Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."
