Has Thompson slipped that much since twice beating Price?

I think Ortiz is awesome, but Tholpson could test him a bit Id think.

Ortiz should get him outta there though by the middle rounds.

I don't think it's that Thompson has slipped that much since Price, as much as it is Ortiz would have blasted him out of there then as well. He had a similar kind of skillset to Ortiz I guess, maybe better stamina five+ years ago, but today I think he'll just be completely outgunned with no way to deter the big baby. He's way slower, has nowhere near the punch, what's he going to do here? Looked terrible in his last fight against Malik Scott aside from that late rally.

If Ortiz chins him out before half way he'll be doing well. Both of them are drug cheat cunts anyway so fuck um both.

So assuming Ortiz makes short work of Thompson. When does he get a shot and at whom?

THat was the point I forgot to make, this is far to short notice for either of them to switch up their cycles If the fight were in 6 months in Texas or something, THompson could get on that A side and have a decent chance.

He's in the car crash of a WBA heavyweight tournament isn't he? He's also already a 'World' champion, albeit interim. He'll get a shot at the winner of Fury Wlad, which ought to make him champ if he can win it, but it wont, to be the champ he'll have to beat Chagaev or Browne or Oquendo. No seriously.

I would add Wilder in there, except that Wilder seems to be busy ridding the heavyweight division of the bottom-tier riffraff.

Ortiz keeps it up he'll have more 'interim' title fights than some champs have actual defenses, what is this 5 . Thompson looked like a gelatinous dinosaur last out and given short notice, age, questionable drive and King Kong this should be a power punching showcase for Ortiz. Bit of a dud for HBO main event but Ali v Vargas undercard could be decent.

Well he is pretty old now(44) and since his price win he has lost decisions to Pulev, takam and malik scott... I think age is catching up with him now but he is still a smart fighter and is taller than ortiz so he will make ortiz work for the knockout, for the situation ortiz is in(waiting for the weird wba tournament to start) I think it's a really good choice of opponent for him...

Thompson talked his way into the fight. Good on Ortiz for answering the call. Not an ideal opponent but credible enough.

Be disappointing if Ortiz doesn't give that boring old plodder a hiding.
