It was the beginning of the 'tournament' so Browne has a court order to face Oquendo now. Ortiz faces Ustinov...why, who knows , and then he fights Fury v Wlad winner. That's assuming all comes off injury and BS free but as long as they are shoveling the shit in the right direction..

Browne side seems irrelevant. The real single wba champ in end will be Ortiz- Fury-Wlad winner

The only division they don't have multi champs is lightwelter, however, they have a vacant title lined up for that division too.

They took alphabet piss taking to a new level. Thing is though, as much as fans hate it, the fighters and promoters love it.

And that’s the thing that is the most puzzling and most disturbing. It’s not just "money" and if it is then these people are thieves. It’s something else and it’s almost as if fighters are wired differently even though there are still some around that we could legitimately call throw backs. It’s been nurtured though imo. The whole concept of risk and reward has been changed. I think the eighties started us down this past and more specifically Ray Leonard. He changed prize fighting. A separation occurred though. If only he had a longer career. Shelf life entered the equation. Leonard fought everyone and took risks...(big ones) and because of it was the first 100 million dollar fighter. He could have made that 100 million today having never fought those battles. Today it’s a bluff and these fighters, promoters and broadcasters have to know it.

I bet they're feeling like a bunch of total idiots as they sit there counting their multiple sets of sanctioning fees for each weight class.

What good is the money when the fighters do not value the titles and people question them?

It's ridiculous isn't it. The top lads at the WBA are all making loads of money and living nice lifestyles but they don't realise that what they're doing has no sporting integrity whatsoever.

I believe it was just as much about money back then as it is now. There's just more opportunity today.

If there was one champ per division today, and that was where all the riches were, the fighters would be falling over themselves to become the no.1 challenger.

True is some respects but apples and oranges really overall. Sure it was about money but also literally putting a meal on the table. Most fighters today would not have survived the Jewish Ghetto in New York or Langfords activity and that of many others. The 0 most likely would not exist. Risk and reward has done a 360 errrr 180.

To me its a sad testimony that everyone wants the WBC who is the most corrupt and fake champions holder over the last 40 years. It says something about a status quo that fighters would seek to covet such a false object and treat it as the exact opposite of what it is making millions along the way with a false representation. Its not a question of where's the beef. The beef has been taken out of the recipe and substituted with tofu. Risk ergo reward is now Reward without it and paper titles. We rarely even get unified champions anymore. Sadly a 1 belt system today most likely wouldn't work.
The cure is as bad as the disease now.

They all suck. The WBO constantly strips their champion then lines up Top Rank fighters to fight no hopers for their title so Top Rank can promote their "champions". Not sometimes, constantly.
