And that’s the thing that is the most puzzling and most disturbing. It’s not just "money" and if it is then these people are thieves. It’s something else and it’s almost as if fighters are wired differently even though there are still some around that we could legitimately call throw backs. It’s been nurtured though imo. The whole concept of risk and reward has been changed. I think the eighties started us down this past and more specifically Ray Leonard. He changed prize fighting. A separation occurred though. If only he had a longer career. Shelf life entered the equation. Leonard fought everyone and took risks...(big ones) and because of it was the first 100 million dollar fighter. He could have made that 100 million today having never fought those battles. Today it’s a bluff and these fighters, promoters and broadcasters have to know it.
