Yes it's the reaction to the light, or lack of that indicates an issue (fixed and dilated). Good call on that by the way, would take seconds mid way through a fight.

The doctor can predict serious brain trauma by looking in the eye? Surely there's a limit to what they can determine? Blackwell was still talking to everyone when stretcherd out.

Its the Iris mate, in a concussed brain the pupil remains the same size when light is shone into it as the iris is unusually slow to react to light opening and closing. Its usually one eye that goes out opposite to the side the damage is on as each eye is connected with leads that cross into opposite sides of the brain.
Its an initial check for many things, stroke too. As well as being able to answer simple questions. So could be an idea for refs to check a few answers when they go into the fighters change rooms separately prior to fight. Whats the date today? Do you know your mothers maiden name, how many siblings you got etc.
If they cant answer the same questions as easy in between some hard rounds they probably got their bolts shaken loose and need to be watched a touch closer.

That would be great news.

Thanks for the update.
I also think that because Nick Blackwell is white, blonde haired and good looking a bigger fuse is made of this, than would have been if had looked like Nikolay Valuev.
I think had this been the other way round, Eubank Jnr who is black (Well mixed raced) I think their would have been many people even happy.
