    Default Are boxing fans stupid?

So there was the poll on Twitter about which fight are people most wanting to see get made. 83% said GGG vs Canelo. 7% said Ward vs kovalev and 10% said mayweather vs pac 2.

First off, mayweather vs pac at 10% and over Ward vs kovalev? That's is insane! Ward vs kovalev is easily the best fight to be made. I think they are both at least top 5 p4p fighters if not the two best.

Also, I want to see GGG beat Canelo as much as the next guy but let's be honest, GGG is just better and will easily win. A Ward kovalev fight is way more enticing because it's interesting. You are having 2 top fighters against each other which rarely happens.

I just don't get some people.

Maybe not stupid, but so many are not real fight fans over all specially throughout all weights, they are caught up in the emotions of it all too, national and at times religious pride and prejudices that go with it all. They also want blood and ko'es and to be proven right so yeah stupid fits.

You don't need to be a boxing fan to take part in the polls though, the answer to your question is that Canelo and GGG are far more mainstream than Ward and Kov.

Isn't even more stupid that 10% picked Floyd-Pac.

    Shows how popular Ward is.

Smarter fans just want to see the cherrypicking poser MW with it all given on a plate put in his place by GGG. The rest are dumb patriot Mexicans. The smart amongst them will relish the thrashing he gets.

In answer to the original question, yes , Boxing fans are stupid, every single one of us.
Tell me a sport that would have a forum and all anyone wants to talk about is a guy who's retired?

Thats a great fight but Inoue has already moved up. I'd rather see a Gonzalez/ Estrada rematch.

To the ?, I don’t think boxing fans are any more daft than any other fan base of other sports but the controllers of the sport have narrowed down the field to much. A couple of Stars are manufactured with a select group of backups and bridesmaids and they dominate the international broadcast scene. Guys like Gonzalez virtually ignored because they are not from a certain place or fight under 122. Rigo ignored because he's too good but relegated to boring. Fanbases become like cattle and they are commercialized. Like a.m. radio or even a resemblance to Pavlov’s dogs.

I wouldn't say stupid but many are impulsive. Its also a marketing thing, and the choices without the sensationalism have all the boxing fans scratching their head. If the choices were honestly splayed out, it makes it more obvious why people chose what they chose.

83% of people want to see 2 fighters that fight often and have cleared out most of the division except for each other fight to see who could be the heir apparent most dominant force in boxing now that floyd and manny have finally f'd off to retirement. The campbells soup kid or the friendly kazak.

10% of people didnt really pay attention in the first fight and want to see floyd and manny come back because just maybe Manny has a chance of knocking floyd retarded and humbling him or Floyd will be the agent of mannys punishment for being mean to gay people.

7% of people live in oakland. just kidding... 7% of people want to see the Russian wrecking ball who beat up the endearing aging wonder before beating the crap out of a big mouth in quebec (outside the us, the last 2 times) with the cruder english fight the guy off the back of a milk carton who disappeared after winning the super 6 years ago.

I wonder if they added Kovalev/stevenson as a choice, where it would rank.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

To Mr. IamInuit I agree with your summation and recognize the fact that most people who are case in point, fans fail to recognize they are led down a primrose path and money is what is used to get our attention. This is the reason why those fighters finally are exposed as hypes chastised and criticized to high heaven. I liked you observation based on A.M. radio where the guest speakers or should I just say the losers remind me of a saying we have heard since we were in grade school by people who have spotted and recognized a phony leading others into a trend of thought making many look stupid. "An empty barrel makes the most noise.

The short answer is yes but this reminds me of a guy standing in line roughly 5 yrs ago and asking me how do Tysons chances look to retake the heavyweight division . Dude was dead serious and "he'd make it thrilling". Maybe a fan once..or maybe someone who only follows boxing if it makes the national news for 30 seconds. Mayweather vs Manny was a testament to this a bit. Honestly that was a fight of franchises rather than actual peaked best vs best competition taking place when it was fresh. How many times did we hear "fight of the century"? I counted a half dozen. The general public who flocked to the bright light went all Jim Jones on that. There are casual massive event fans and then there are obsessed workmanlike fans who take time to read between the lines and follow the fighters. They still yell at the screen or shake there head in dismay at robberies today just like they did the first time they felt fooked. Most of us here I'd say . In that regard we may be deemed stupid for sticking with it although I prefer dedicated . Then again some dogs are dedicated to chasing parked cars so. Some fans and media outlets just want to be pushing the push and hype always has and always will sell for a time. It can also be flavor of the month syndrome. The media for both Golovkin and Canelo is massive right now. It's one I want tomorrow and right the divsion but ffs, by no means do they surpass or even equal the adversity and comp that Kovalev and Ward have BOTH dealt with successfully and its actually in the works! Not for me anyway.

Miss when FNF did twitter and FB scoring. Teddy would laugh at them and say they watched too many cat videos on occasion
