    Default Bruce Springsteen

    Hi guys,

Was just down at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry for one of the best gigs I have ever seen.

I already was in love with Springsteen, thanks to songs like Thunder Road, but seeing him and the E Street Band live was something else. Who changed your life with live performances

Never listened to him a lot, but he does a great job of blending folk styles with a lot more/more interesting syncopation than is the norm for rock and roll, was always my impression. Sure it was a great show!

Don't get a lot of great names often where I live but the best shows I've ever seen have probably been Herbie Hanock and his band, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and The Chieftains with Ry cooder. 2 of the 3 were when I was pretty young also, I should really get out more

Well I've seen Lynyrd Skynyrd & The Doobie Brothers...that was my first concert and it was pretty awesome. I was maybe 13, and when Skynyrd went into "That Smell" and that was the first time ever I smelled marijuana....really made an impact on me.

Jimmy Buffett playing at Carter Finley Stadium 4th of July in the pouring down rain for 3 hours AND shooting off fireworks at the end was epic as well.

Never seen the Boss live but my fav Springsteen song/ video is Im on fire.

Parliament had begun as the Funkadelics. Eventually. Funkadelic.
Saw them live when i was about 10.
They had a mammoth sized skull on stage. With red lights for eyes. ....and a 3 or 4 foot joint hanging out its mouth. A huge lighter. ...and when they lit the joint...the skull started.coughing. said oh this some good shit.
As the smoke from the joint flooded the stage, a guitar player came from inside his mouth while soloing.
Eddie Hazel turned me into a guitar lover instantly.
And like Kabong...i smelled something for the first time. Alot.

Springsteen is amazing. I have a tremendous respect for his back catalogue and there are just so many really great songs in there. His stamina seems quite remarkable and I hope he doesn't overdo it. I know he wants to give value for money, but people like him and McCartney were only doing short shows in their pomp and here they are beyond 3 hours sometimes. That's a lot of work and Springsteen really works hard with the guitar and vocals.

I like Springsteen music though he is a liberal cocksucker I wouldn't hesitate to see him live. Yes was the first live band I saw, they made me want to learn how to play. The grateful dead, the stones, Taj Mahal damn I've seen some good shows. They all had a positive effect on me

Ditto. I saw "GNR" (really just Axl Rose and Dizzy Reed) which I have to say I was nervous about seeing them past their prime and with key band members in Velvet Revolver at the time, but Axl put on a hell of a show, he was still hitting and holding those high notes. Opening up for GNR was Sebastian Bach who tried to get the crowd (in North Carolina of all places) to boo the War in Iraq (which damn near nobody did not because we're so pro war but because we're not going to disrespect our men and women in service) and that was pretty funny, but Sebastian Bach took that ok and moved right along, he sang well too. Papa Roach was the next band and I completely tuned them out.

I saw Van Halen (with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass) and they did a great show.

The only bands left on my "to see before they die or break up" list are: Huey Lewis & The News, Billy Joel, Hall & Oats, AC/DC (with Axl is ok enough), Weezer, Black Keys, The Strokes, The Hives, Leon Bridges, and Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweats....though the last 6 on that list are relatively new compared to the others. I wish I had seen Motley Crue, but that's not going to happen now...also would have loved to have seen Levon Helm too.

Levon used to have those midnight jams at his place in Woodstock. Did them for years. I was going to go but something always came up. I really regret not seeing him . His last album, I think it was dirt farmer, was phenomenal stuff

Yup, man those would have been fun. One of the bands I mentioned: Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweats cover "The Shape I'm In" and I must say that Levon would be proud of how much justice they do the song. (The Shape I'm In starts at the 5 minute mark)

When I was a buffed young 20something I did security for. Motley Crue.
Another time I did security for either them or Guns. N Roses..where a then unknown Pantera opened up.

Milwaukee June. 20-July has an 11 day musicfest .about 20 stages. I was torn between Huey and the News at Leinenkugal stage and Carlos Santana at the Miller High Life stage. Santana won out.

And I think my 3rd concert...my mom took me to see Hall N Oates.
    One on One
    Kiss is on my list..
    I can't go for that!!!!!
    Rich girl
    Private eyes..
And the bass line for Family man live was epic. Great sound, great show.

I was going to see Hugh Lewis and the news but I was afraid I Might lose my dignity at the show, maybe leave it under the seat or something.
I would be amiss to not mention Dylan probably saw him six times. Once I got third row, I think Dylan spit on me, spit flies out of his mouth while he sings. I still have that shirt, never washed it.

My list of who I've seen is far too long, and probably explains why I have fairly poor hearing!

    Radiohead
    Bob Dylan
    Meat Loaf (first ever gig)
    Muse
    Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Oasis (it should have been twice, but only once as we went to what turned out to be their last ever show at the V Festival, and my mate took a bad trip. He spent fifteen minutes promising to buy tickets to their next show as I carried the fucker back to the tent....I'm still bitter)
    Foo Fighters
U2 (worked the bar at the Millenium Stadium, they were good, but not £80 per ticket good!)
    Gang of Four
    Sham 69
    30 seconds to mars
    Manic Street Preachers

Those are the ones that come to mind immediately, and I always geek out whenever Eels have a new record or tour, and see them a few times on each visit.
