Kirkland, surely you have seen the new mayor of Rome?

I mean she's no Marion Le Pen, but still she's quite the looker
Depending on the survey France is somewhere between six and ten percent Muslim. And at least half of them have probably integrated reasonably well. So not really on the brink. If France had a significant Muslim minority there's no way Le Pen could get elected, never mind win a referendum.

There's not going to be a civil war anywhere in Europe. None of our countries are chock full of heavily armed paranoid idiots thankfully.

Italy is well and truly fucked economically. They're facing a massive banking crisis. When we voted out their stock market declined by 20%, over twice our drop. They have the Five Star movement that has just won a couple of local elections and may do well in the next general election but whoever is in power in a few years will be forced into some major action by the ongoing economic disaster over there.

We had a choice in this. Countries like Italy and Spain eventually won't have a choice. We should have just sat tight and left it to them and avoided any economic problems due to leaving. On the other hand no more integration, we can vote our governments out if we don't like them, it's a step away from globalism and back to nation states, there's a lot to like.

Lots of beautiful Italian women. Not nearly as many beautiful Greek women and you're talking to somebody who lived there for a year and a half and used to have a holiday home in Italy.

But they're all bloody hairy. At the very least a significant minority have moustaches immune to laser treatment and/or arm hair like steel wool.

You've got to hand it to Corbyn. People say politicians never get anything done but in just a year of being leader Corbyn has transformed the Labour party into the Judean Peoples' Popular Front.

    Splitters.

So you don't believe that Muslims from other nations would jump into France and fight against Le Pen? You believe that if Le Pen was elected France wouldn't explode in violent chaos? You have more faith in the French Muslims than I do.

Oh nice dig at the United States, I and my fellow Americans appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to make a smart ass remark about our right to own firearms. It's a good thing that guns are illegal in the majority of Europe, it's why there has never been an incident like the Bataclan......that was in the US right? It had to be I mean there were guns and guns = US so we've been lead to believe........I would hate if something like that happened in a country where no one was allowed to defend themselves in a manner which could even the odds in most any situation.

The EU is a bit like what Kaiser Wilhelm II wanted....more real estate for Germany. The German economy calling the shots. Hitler would have loved it, bar the mass unchecked immigration. And SOON 1 European Army....mmmm sounds like good times

No, nobody is going to "jump into France" and fight against the French state. Luckily for us the number of heavily armed religious fundamentalist nutcases over here is so low that all they can do is carry out occasional isolated terrorist attacks, there's no way even in the most paranoid nightmares that there could be any kind of organised uprising of any scale. OK, plenty of paranoid nutcases in the States who think like that but I have to tell you it's just silly.

What you don't understand is that you grew up in a febrile atmosphere of people still upset they lost the civil war and with an undercurrent of rebellion against the government in Washington. The idea that there might be a huge bunch of people pick up their weapons and try to overthrow the government isn't abstract nuttery to you, it's a genuine cultural touchstone.

Over here in civilisation you can sometimes go years without having a conversation about how tyrannical the government is and wouldn't it be a good idea to have an armed rebellion. People over here just aren't a bad hair day away from picking up the gun they don't have and marching on the capital.
