I agree with that, but I would also argue that the young have not really experienced much of the world and have been indoctrinated for a long time. I know I was naive at that age, and I am sure a lot of youngsters are the same way. They will be more positive towards Europe, but they have less historical perspective or understanding that there were once actually jobs in manufacturing rather than in retail. Their parents will obviously see things a little differently as will kids in deprived areas of which there are many.
I think the racism issue is being overdone, but clearly some are using it as an excuse to get physical and that isn't cool. I think the 52% are likely mostly made up of let down and frustrated people, rather than being racist. They have got twisted into being racist by politicians and media who live very easy and sheltered lives. 'Ooh look, graffiti' and then the typical Guardian nonsense about out of control societal racism. There would be no tension if immigration was controlled from the start.
Labour started it as a vote winner and it has led to social tensions and it will only get worse and it is not because of the intrinsic racism of people it is because of the unrestrained and out of control actions of politicians. Just another example of how politicians seemingly don't care about what they are doing to people.
