Default Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Chris Arreola

    Good night of boxing

Guillermo Rigoondeaux ? Boxing should be ashamed of itself in how they are treating this guy. Rigo is the purest of pure boxer and for better or worse, no one fights like him. I'd never miss a chance to watch him fight.

Rigo says "Nobody wants to fight me everyone scared of me"

So what does he do ? Wins his next fight by breaking his opponents jaw

Yeah that will do it rigo

Nobody seems to notice that Rigs kept his word and stood right in front of the Dickens the whole time. When Rigs moved forward, Dickens often retreated. Guys seem to completely freeze and stop throwing when they get in there with Rigo. He gets them shook.

What many people don't realize is that Rigo is a shit talker. He's a bit shy and socially awkward but what every Spanish-speaker says is true. It would be great if he spoke English. Rigo can talk trash. And he can back it up. The guy packs dynamite. Rigo obviously doesn't go out of his way to fight, but watch out if he opens up. The guy will bust you up.

The good news for him is 122 has a lot of young undefeated contenders like Rey Vargas and Moises Flores who need to make names for themselves and aren't being protected and micromanaged. Plus Quigg has an L and is probably more willing now.

If he can just stay active like GGG the bigger fights will come to him. With Chocolatito at 115 now that fight is becoming more realistic. They weigh the same on fight night already and it seems Roman is moving up every year. But time is running out on Rigo. He's old, just not too old...yet. That Chocolatito fight would have to happen soon

No one will beat him but father time or a really big weight mismatch, but it's looking likely that we will never see another big name ala Doniare again ..... shame...

On the Wilder undercard it was my first sight of the undefeated Erickson Lubin who a few people have mentioned. I was not that impressed and he doesn't look anything special to me, but he's only 20 and plenty of time.

People give to much credit to an '0' record that was shown in Felix Diaz - Sammy Vasquez Jr fight. Sammy Vasquez Jr was 21-0 it was crazy to have Diaz (An Olympic gold medalist) as the underdog because he has fought at a much higher level and that was shown in the fight as Diaz had a straight forward UD given to him.

As to the main event. There are pockets of brilliance where Wilder looks downright frightening. The double and triple left hooks which he mixed up to the head and body with sick speed. He's got a sharp boxing brain and sets his opponents up for crunching short shot

But he can be so sloppy in there. At times his movement is lazy and I'm not sure if he's unfocused or uncoordinated. That's part of what makes his fights such fun viewing.

Areola never used feints against Wilder. The only time I actually saw Areola using it, Wilder panicked. But generally Areola walked in slowly towards Wilder, so slowly that even a slug would have had enough time to avoid his shots.

Areola was never gonna be an athlete and what he lacked in skill he made up for in heart. He was never a top fighter yet clearly this was the shell of him having one last hurrah, not a terrible fight on late notice.
