Canelo is a good fighter with heavy punches. His problem is that he needs to step up his competition. If he is going to stay at 154, then he has a few good fights there that need to be made. If he goes up to MW, then he needs to actually fight a top fighter there.

You only need to look at the size of him against Smith, he still looked massive in comparison.

Good performance off Canelo but pretty similar to Brook v GGG last week, Smith just couldn't hurt him

Can't agree with that, Smith is a natural 154 lber, and only got his work in when Canelo wasn't doing anything.

Oh I'm not saying that it is the same but you have to agree that Canelo looked a lot thicker than Smith and just generally bigger in the body, Smith did only get the work in when Canelo wasn't doing anything but even then he just didn't have the power to hurt him.

I'm not taking anything away from Canelo and I'm not bitching about the weight I was just saying he looked so much more powerful

My bad, guess I thought pretty similar implied something else It wasn't hard to see beforehand that Canelo had basically every advantage that would matter, there wasn't any intrigue as to how Smith was going to have to fight and he was outgunned.

I actually give Kellerman some credit for the subtle digs at Oscar(think it's the first time I've seen his stupid grin turn to somthing else on the spot) and pressing the GGG thing in the interview, this is becoming pantomime. "I fear no man", " I don't fuck around"..... Well, prove it.

That was an interesting bout but the better man won. In my opinion, Smith has a style similar to Canelo, same kind of roughness to him BUT he's kind of a category just under him in matter of power and raw talent. Still, a very competitive fighter and he'll have some other cool fights quite soon.

i think he is heading up to middle weight, I think canelo golovkin is inevitableand by the time it happens canelo will be favourite as golovkin will be too old.... in my opinion canelo has just sniped the opportunities that came his way, the middleweight title v cotto and now the 154 title v smith, i really think he wont stick around 154 after this but lets wait and see !

He needs to fight a legit MW if he moves up.

Fucking hell Max is giving him a bit of a grilling here aint he

Regardless of how brave Smith is I think that tonight showed him to be no more than European level, he will be able to mix it at world level but he won't ever be anything more than a tough fight for the elite.

Ah well I've been up for 25 hours now (other than my 90 minute nap at around 10pm) therefore I am going to sign off and get a couple of hours kip.
