On the Off Topic boards ? If you really gave a damn about the bloke you would not be so sarcastic. If you really did work in the Criminal Justice System then you will know that without knowing about his previous convictions, reading any of the reports, interviews or even being in court your assessment of the sentencing is pretty pointless. If you want to throw your lot in with the boo boys and carry on inciting division and hatred then that is a bit sad. Saddo was never like this before. It was a cut above other forums in at least attempting to show all sides of a debate and not being entirely made up of shallow sensationalist click bait. Pathetic.

Our criminal justice system is soft in comparison to the system in the US.

For this person to get a year, when his friends who were also found guilty were given suspended sentences means he has done this before. That is why he got a year in all probability.

You may be right but we are going the other way on non violent offenses. Something like this I would hope to see fines and probation but political pressure probably stuck it's head up. I'm not talking about what his friends got it's irrelevant I'm talking about the year sentence. If it happened in the us I'd be even more pissed with the sentence. Politics should not sit behind the bench but it always does

That is the point I am making, which you miss, he must have had previous. What his friends got is relevant as they did not get sentenced and he did.

The clues are there.

You do not get a custodial sentence here very easily. Even for this offence his friends did not go to prison.

It should be on their records, it is a despicable crime. For this person to be imprisoned, he must have had previous. Our prisons are overcrowded and you have to commit a serious crime or be a persistent offender to be imprisoned.
