GGG has been a very impressive fighter for a good amount of time. Daniel Jacobs has had to deal with adversity big time, 1st the shock loss to Dimitry Pirog (who in that fight looked absolutely brilliant as a boxer-puncher) and then the bout with cancer which sidelined him for 19 months.

I think Jacobs has the skill and technique to beat GGG, but this is the typical Jacobs has to be right 100% of the time and GGG only has to be right once kind of bout.

I think GGG gets a knockdown or two and wins a decision or maybe stops Jacobs late. Jacobs will give a good account of himself in the fight.

Its probably the next best fight since Kov/Ward. I'm hoping that GGG takes this one seriously and trains for Jacobs to be a threat as I feel hes been kind of sandbagging since Lemieux. He knew that Brook couldn't hurt him and kind of phoned it in and then said he did it for "big drama fight". As for Jacobs, I agree with Spicoli. Jacobs going to have to ambush GGG early like Quillin to really stand a chance. I also find it funny that Jacobs whined about how he wasn't getting enough money and then when he got more, spent it immediately on trying to build his dream team by hiring Algieri as a nutritionist (Stamina for the a sustained beating?) and Virgil Hunter as an assistant (presumably to help him "ward" GGG to the scorecards).

I was actually pulling for Jacobs to win at one time. Then his immediate attempt to sidestep a Mora rematch and him playing the race card as an excuse for him not being a star, selling out arenas and earning sky high stacks... all kind of soured me on him. So i'm looking for GGG to knock the diva out of Jacobs and make him that humble hardworking guy (that cheated death and beat cancer) again. I think he's got a decent shot at Canelo, if Golovkin doesn't ruin him.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

GGG takes everyone seriously and always comes in fully prepared. He will not take Jacobs lightly.

I think Jacobs has a great shot to beat Canelo (unless, like you said, GGG ruins him). In my opinion, I think the only chance Jacobs has is if he uses his foot speed advantage to constantly turn GGG, forcing him to reset his feet. Basically, fight him the way Hop fought Tito: behind a sharp jab, constantly turning him in circles and landing an accumulation of punches vice looking to land a huge shot. Will still prove difficult, because GGG has a great jab, maintains perfect position, and is phenomenal at cutting the ring off, but will be his only hope in my opinion.

Agree with the right 100% vs right once - and see it going like Canelo Khan in that respect.

Jacobs can last a few rounds but when he gets hit properly - it's probably going to be the end of the night

I think there's too much emphasis put on the way Pirog handled Jacobs especially the KO. Pirog was absolutely incredible that night and it still took him 5 rounds (4 and a quarter really) to stop Jacobs and I think that fight was the absolute last time Pirog had his full power in his punches too. It is a fucking shame his back gave out like it did.

Jacobs is older, he's more experienced now, he's going to pace himself and GGG isn't Pirog (amazing that they were set to fight when Pirog ducked out of that one to fight N'Dam). GGG is a patient boxer, he'll look for his openings and make his punches count. I think we'll see Jacobs give GGG lots of respect early on.

I really liked Pirog it's a shame his back gave out on him.

Danny Jacobs got dropped by Sergio Mora so I don't like the thought of him taking GGG's bombs.

But Danny can punch with the best of them so maybe he can land something that will turn the tide in his favour or even end the fight.

GGG will just take Jacobs apart I have not seen anything in his armoury to trouble GGG.

Agreed. Jacobs is not good on the back foot and unless he blitzes GGG he will be on the back foot. The only way this is interesting is if Jacobs tries to get GGG out early. Because as soon as GGG is coming forward it's only a matter of time.

That won't happen though. I can't see Jacobs just going in there and throwing punches. He will take a cautious approach and then get hit, and then be even more cautious. GGG will just box him for a few rounds and then knock him out in the mid rounds.

I agree completely. I think GGG is far far too good for Jacobs.

I could see that as well. It'll be entertaining for a while, till GGG gets the upper hand and open the whole machine.

Don't have much to add, already some solid comments in this thread. I have a feeling it's another one sided beatdown from GGG, but if Jacobs sells out early it could certainly be interesting, he probably has better tools than Golovkin has seen so far. The guy is fast and powerful with a good pedigree behind it, certainly not some kind of Curtis Stevens, and he`s a real middleweight unlike Brook. The first few rounds of this should be very very good.

It's a sexy matchup, the best at middle (ignoring the catchweight kid).

Jacobs is a quick, athletic sniper that will be very dangerous early. If he can get the jump on GGG (bit like Brook did) there could be some oohhing and ahhing before Golovkin tames him. Fingers crossed it could be a poor mans (yes very poor mans) Hagler-Hearns.
