you might want to comb through fighters than converted over from Muay Thai as old habits tend to die hard... but also many of the older fighters as Master said. Before the stances, guards, and physics/kinetics came into play for the sake of efficiency.

Haye and Groves use a sort of half long guard, at times keeping their jab hand basically touching the other guys guard.
It let's you measure distance but takes away some head guarding in the process.

yeah I was looking for someone who holds there hands out further than the norm as a set guard but I guess no one does its more of a transitional guard if anything? Id think it would be used to keep the distance and makes parrying punches easier.
