Just by definition catch weights have always been around. The bigger question is who would be considered the massive network darling and be handed 4,5,6 opportunities to play games with the weights and get away with it. Leonard v Lalonde comes to mind.
Catchweight fights have littered boxing history. A funny thing I thought about was how Cruisers never try for catchweights with some heavies?
