The promotion is doing really badly. This could be like Roy Jones versus Hopkins 2 where Jones was on a percentage as his purse and ended up fighting for free.

Exactly... Kovalev was p*issed he got jobbed and wanted his belts back. He tried to goad Ward into the fight by calling him a chickensh*t and ward feigned retirement and then decided if he had to fight Kovalev or get sued, he would get Duva to void the predetermined terms that were signed during the first fight agreement rematch clause and is retaliating with the roc nation lawyers and accountants. This is all just another way of trying to get under kovalev's skin and put a shine on roc nation who will probably try to sign Kovalev when its time to reup with Duva.
In the meantime, Kovalev just wants his belts back.. apparently at all costs. One can only hope its similar to when Roy Jones, told his lawyer regarding the rematch with Griffin ("I don't care what it costs, get me the rematch!")
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I thought Roc Nation was looking to get out of boxing?
I remember him similarly calling Stevenson a chicknshat but instead Steven son jumped ship and network to avoid him. But how can one void a previously agreed upon rematch clause, terms go to the winner? Either way Kovalev has obviously gone in with a all or nothing mindset. Unfortunately he has little to none of the clout and network coddling that Jones had even if he had came up short in rematch. Can't believe their hanging a $60 price tag on it so hopefully some links pop up.
