Think that has anything to do with the moratorium on drilling? Building new refineries? Government subsidies of "green" energy? I'm not saying the government doesn't also chip in on oil and natural gas (natural gas, also very clean).

Where do you get the materials needed for building "green" energy plants be they wind or solar? Steel and carbon fiber reinforced plastics.....how do you get those things? How are those made? How efficient is it to produce those things? How efficient is it to produce those things WITHOUT fossil fuels?

Yes, Yes, I know we're all going to die Anthropogenic Climate Change, yes, yes......we should be so lucky
There no moratorium on drilling. There's a moratorium on giving away huge chunks of state owned land for free to the oil companies as a. the Obama administration wanted payment for them at market rates but the poil companies wanted to continue state socialist subsidies/giveaways and b. they're just stockpiling land, they're only currently drilling on about 5% of the land they already have rights to drill on.

Refinery companies don't want to build new refineries. It's much more profitable to operate current refineries at full capacity. There are constant breakdowns and they can crank refining prices right up when there's a production halt somewhere.

One you build those clean energy facilities you can then make steel and any other construction materials with clean energy ad infinitum. It's the magic of the marketplace Lyle. Costs fall dramatically the more things are adopted. Cheaper energy means steel plants and any other plants can put in new equipment that runs on clean energy and pays for itself. And costs continue to go down as clean energy is adopted more and more. Solar electricity is the same price as electricity from coal-fired plants in China and cheaper than coal-fired plants in India. Trump is going to make US forms fall behind foreign firms in adopting and creating new technologies. Even the frigging oil and gas companies, who have big investments in clean energy, told him to stay in the Paris agreement. But he pulled out because with no actual policy agenda at home and not having a clue what he's doing this is one of the few things he can do that he can point to. But it's shooting the country in the foot.
