Hbo horrible.judges that had ward up horrible. Horrible ending and i am a huge kov fan and ward is dirty in there but he just wanted it more in end
I've never seen the man drink myself say I can't act as if I know. But I do know it is rumored and whenever his camp is asked about it they don't deny it but rather just say "he's Russian, Russians like Vodka". The response seems telling, but it may be built up to more than it is. Just, the evidence seems to support the rumor.
A night of crazy stoppages all around.
Could be a factor. However, i'm pretty certain the ref called Ward on the first balls shot. And Kovalev only complained a couple of times after that. If he was blatantly going to his knees or something it would make more sense.
There's about a million fights in history that should have been stopped going by tonight.
I do think it's telling Kovalev didn't go berserk though, he took folding way to easy so maybe wanted out
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
What sucks about these things is Kovalev was clearly done. Ward was going to finish him. But now all people talk about is low blows and standing 8s.
For the record I've read repeatedly there was no standing 8 in this fight from some knowledgeable people, but I haven't come across the actual rules to be 100.
Kovalev was bent over with hands down, the ref had 2 options. Rule he was held up by the ropes and give him a count. Or stop the fight. I wish he would have ruled he was held up by the ropes.
But, all this aside. Outside a miracle punch Ward had the fight. You just don't recover from the body like you do the head. That's why they say to invest to the body early for the rewards late. It only gets worse to the body. Sure Sergey could have gotten a breath, but the next body shot would have him right back the same. Ward was winning that fight no doubt, even if he was behind on my card. Not only would Ward have won but it is almost certain he was going to stop him.
Weeks stole that definitive victory from Ward.
He was sacrificing his head to cover his body at the end, I was wondering why he didn't take a knee (which is common when hurt to the body), but his attitude the whole week was weird.
Refusing interviews, walking out of the press conference, trainer publicly mugging him off, then it was revealed his money was a percentage of a show that couldn't give tickets away.
He seemed glad it was all over. As terrible as the stoppage was Kovalev folded tamely in a fight he was winning.

Looked like he gave up
Disappointing
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
I'm really fucked off with this now that I've woke up, Kov was hurt but its a world championship fight and the biggest of both fighters careers.
The fight was won via low blows which Kov had been complaining about prior to these ones landing.
He got buzzed pretty fucking hard and was in survival mode but if the shots were not low then the referee has stopped the fight for a legitimate body shot which is crazy.
Same situation as what happened to Groves, he was winning the first fight and the ref couldn't wait to just in the first sign that he was hurt.
Kov did seem off tonight at times, I'm pretty sure that earlier in the fight the ref had to call him and tell him to turn around as he had turned to face the corner for some reason or another.
And as Fenners mentioned he didn't put up much of a fight about the stoppage, who knows if he was hurting and was glad to be given an out or if it was just complete resignation that shit is stacked against him.
All in all not the best night for boxing with the craziness that went with Rigo and the craziness that went with the bodyshot stoppage, people won't be talking about the boxing yet again.
Absolutely. One of those punches was especially low. To just wave it off like that is messed up. But then, look at those cards. They were out to job him again. Twice Kovalev has done the heavy lifting and got the short end. Why not just wave the fight off when Ward was knocked down in the last fight? Because it would have been BS! You have to give a count or at least say 'Steady on, this is penis punching!' Kovalev didn't even go down and was being battered on the penis repeatedly. Yet HBO seemed ignorant of Ward losing most of the rounds and were dribbling on about how great Ward is. He basically lost twice. The nob was the only thing between them.
Just watched the replay. In one word?
Bollocks
