What do you think pound for pound means?

Do you think it means Choco could give Wlad a fight?
    nope, that's my point

people are talking about certain boxers being the "best boxer in the world" because they are lb4lb

but they aren't they best boxers in the world

    not by a long shot

Is it that difficult to understand that being a good boxer has nothing to do with size?

Your original statement was that "the best boxers in the world are the bigger boxers."

We've already shown you instances where that's simply not true.

Skill is skill. Size is size. One is independent of the other.

Leonard was one of the best boxers in history. Better than probably most if not all of the heavyweights in history.

Yet he wouldn't stand a chance in the ring against a decent heavyweight, even one who's not a good boxer.

I'm puzzled as to what the confusion still is.
if one cricket team would beat another cricket team every time they played them then would they be better at cricket?

anyway, which cricket team is better, the one that won every time or the one that lost?

even if the one that lost had more skilful cricketers?

No, hey.... you win the argument.

Nikolai Valuev was a better boxer than Sugar Ray Leonard because he's bigger.
Leonard certainly would've never beaten him in the ring, so Valuev is the better boxer.

    Oh, you liked my picture?
    Here's another one.

    another really really good picture

you are really really good at pictures

its a good point you make tho, comparing leonard and valuev

its a shame isn't it that leonard wouldn't have beaten valuev, everybody loves skill, itd be nice if skill in every sport would prevail

sometimes tho its just brute strength

if it was just down to skill then we could see women playing men at a level in tennis

    kids playing professional football

    that sort of thing

    You are a numpty eric44.

They have age, weight and gender categories reason but that does not mean you can not appreciate Serena Williams, GGG and under 21 football.

Much better than watching Valuev v Ruiz box one another.

    I fully appreciate it

I prefer women's tennis by miles

doesn't mean I think they are better at tennis tho, in fact I agree with JM, Williams probably wouldn't be in the top 700 men

I'd take Leonard against Valuev simply because he is so very much better at boxing. I don't think Valuev could lay a glove on him.

If Eric cares to start naming fighters that moved down in weight with great success I'll name 10 for every 1 he named that moved up in weight with great success

I don't think moving down in weight is relevant to the conversation

moving up and becoming HW champ would be

really think Leonard would beat Valuev?

I don't think he'd do a bit of damage to him. But yes, I think he could move for 12 rounds and when he gets to his right pop in for a shot or 2 before escaping. Do that 3 or 4 times a round and win the rounds and thus the fight.

So you admit fighters have had far more success moving up in weight than down. Good, because the numbers show that comparison is not remotely close. I think it is relevant because if bigger guys are truly better the numbers would be even.

Sasquatch would have 36 minutes in which to simply swing those long tree trunks of his, and land anywhere on Leonard. Head, body, arms, whatever.
Put them in a small ring, and Leonard stands little to no chance.

So not only are we handicapping Leonard on size we are handicapping him with a small ring too? Any other handicaps the big guy needs?

Ok.... put them on a football field for all I care. For Leonard to win, he has to land something. To land something, he has to come within reach of Sasquatch. Unless Leonard's allowed to throw stuff, which I guess he wouldn't be. Point is..... Valuev would win..... thereby "proving" eric's "brilliant" point that bigger boxers are the better boxers.

Valuev is slow as dirt. Move left, when Valuev adjusts move right. Now he can't punch. Get in and get out. His slow feet and slow punches would give Leonard time. Rinse and repeat.
