A well known trainer manager once told me..... There are natural talents out there, like any other sport, the idea that true gifted talents like naz, George best, tiger woods, Ronnie o Sullivan need 'trainers' is patently ridiculous. They may need fitness coaches, fair enough, but a fitness coach don't get ten percent or anything like it. It's all down to historic sign up deals when the gifted ones are young, that's why there are so many bust ups in mid contract. All due respect to the ingles but what the fuck could they TEACH naz about boxing? Just turn up and keep fit. Trainers only bring benefits to mediocre improvers, bellend and glen mcory being classic examples.

Is it mandatory to have a trainer in boxing?

Also fighters at the end of their career and know it all anyway. Remember Holyfield saying to Manny Steward, there is nothing new you can teach me and did not use him for his next fight.
