Areola probably has always had eating issues but was more motivated when he was young and hungry. He put on a good run a couple of times but just run into better fighters. Stiverne was his best chance of winning a title and he gave it a good go coming in shape and motivated to win.

I felt sorry for him when he lost in his title challenges. He gave it a real go against Vitali and Stiverne.

He wasn't always that big. Pretty lanky when he was young actually, though his dad probably was emphasizing skill over physique, so he never really looked cut or like he was doing a lot of cardio as he filled out with age.
