Exactly. He never avenges his admittedly close losses. He's doing this one because at 154 there are men who know they can beat him and 160 is GGG. He cannot go up or down without taking a lot of heat. GGG could rematch Jacobs or move up and people would say 'Cool'. He's nothing to prove. Canelo has a lot to prove as there are question marks aplenty.

Golovkin has plenty to prove! He blatantly avoided Ward and waited for Alvarez to move up to fight him and when he did GGG failed to beat him. Then there was the close and debatable win against Jacobs. The only two good fighters he fought arguably both beat him so he has plenty to prove at the top level.

Canelo would never risk a fight against Jacob's. His level at middleweight is old Cotto. He only took Triple G because he was boxed into a corner.

Quick point, I don’t think anyone has suggested Canelo beat GGG. I haven’t seen a single person say that. But then again I don’t go out looking for crazy opinions.

Many have suggested Jacobs beat GGG.

These are different situations. Both fighters are chasing the money. That is obvious and they are prize fighters, that should be accepted. What shouldn’t be accepted is fans getting caught up in the BS “It’s the fight for number 1 at middleweight” and such.

Jacobs v GGG is quite clearly the fight for number 1 at middleweight. Unless GGG looks older in the rematch, Canelo clearly wins, then Canelo vs Jacobs is the fight for number 1 at Middleweight. In other words if Canelo clearly wins the rematch we will never see the fight for number 1 at middleweight because Canelo will not fight Jacobs, GGG probably won’t either. But at least maybe

Good summary. Canelo clearly lost to GGG but IMO showed that he belongs as a top MW. He is below GGG and Jacobs for sure. He needs to fight another MW to prove his place.

GGG won’t fight him again either so what of it Alvarez has already stepped up in weight (something GGG will never do)

Canelo weight meant he was always a middleweight.

GGG fought a light heavyweight Jacobs so in that sense he did fight above his weight.

You make 160 at the weigh-in then you’re a middleweight. Doesn’t matter how much weight you put on after that.

If you are familiar with Master you know the rules are valid or invalid depending on the fighter. Not on the validity of the rules.
