What we know so far:

• A white 4WD drove through a group of pedestrians on the corner of Flinders St and Elizabeth St, before crashing into a tram stop
• Police say 19 people have been hospitalised
• The driver was a 32-year-old Australian citizen of Afghan descent
• He had a history of mental illness and drug abuse and came to police attention for a"minor assault" in 2010
• A 24-year-old also arrested at the scene was not in the car, but was filming the incident and was allegedly found to have knives in his bag, police say
• Police say they believe the crash was "a deliberate act", but that they do not know the motivation
• The scene remains cordoned off

The only difficult aspect to gauge properly is whether it still counts as an act of terrorism when the guy's absolutely bonkers.

It would make sense however to assume that it really was terrorism given the mode of operation and the origin of the moron in question.

People are SHIT scared of being pointed out as islamophobes or racists by the usual people.

Fuck it, whole countries are scared of being called that and being paraded as a racist state by the foreign press. The Hungarian prime minister had loads of shit poured on him only last year becauise of the imigrant crisis.
