Actually according to this: https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/new...aturday-night/
GGG made 3 million for the fight. Perhaps more with a cut of ppv. Fighters still have to pay their promoters, trainers, cutmen (whether theyre cut or not) , sanctioning fees, and good old uncle sam (who usually takes his half right off the top). The donation of fight gear to an auction is probably the smart thing to do, being you cant write off 18k on your taxes. You lose the money flat out and the beneficiary probably doesn't receive it all on his end if its a "cash gift". Charitable donations are usually protected from taxes, cash gifts are usually taxed flat out after they hit a certain number (in the US right now i believe its tax free under 13000, they start taxing after that). Thats why churches have it so good... donations every sunday and rent free most of the time.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I just read on the first link when googles that it was 15 for GGG and 20 for Canelo

I know they have to pay a lot of extras and probably walk away with about half of their acual purse. But still 18k from 7.5 mil is fuck all.
All pro fighters, regardless of level, should be forced to put a % or 2 of their purses into a fund for injured fighters. Fighters at the top pay for the unlucky ones who get injured on the way up

Yes, you're all right. Golovkin is clearly a tax dodging, publicity seeking wanker for giving Gutnecht the £18k.
He should not have donated any money to the fund, how dare he.![]()

Good post bashing righteous appropriators of other peoples money. Fuck the lot of them, people, freely, give money to who the fuck they want, quite rightly, if we allow this site to become a judgement on who supports who it aint boxing anymore its politics, so tell them all to fuck right off. Any gift is good and well intentioned and we don't need no political wankers taking shots, rant over.

Great gesture by Golovkin and you really cannot get into a 'just' amount and he shouldn't be held to one. He's an individual in a hurt sport and regardless of purse and earnings he can very well find himself and family in like tragic situation next time out. Shouldn't fall on bond of boxings brotherhood to be the main or highest donor while promoters and swindlers chip in a "atta'boy" and get well soon to fallen fighters. The fact that we have no basic fund for retired and injured boxers in a sport where fans set sales records and are conned for $100+ by flamboyant novices with 0 rounds vs one called a certified hall of famer is a damn shame. It's an individual sport but needs to be on numerous shoulders.

What an amazing thing to do, there's something special about Golovkin in and out of the ring![]()
