To be honest after getting 15-20 million for the canelo fight giving 18k to a former opponents family isnt a particularly generous. I know its better than nothing but if you are really concerned why not donate/help raise enough that would allow his family to look after him properly for years to come.
18 grand aint shit to GGG the promoters and managers should be made to pay all medical fees every show should be paying in to a universal fund to support injured fighters.
Actually according to this: https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/new...aturday-night/
GGG made 3 million for the fight. Perhaps more with a cut of ppv. Fighters still have to pay their promoters, trainers, cutmen (whether theyre cut or not) , sanctioning fees, and good old uncle sam (who usually takes his half right off the top). The donation of fight gear to an auction is probably the smart thing to do, being you cant write off 18k on your taxes. You lose the money flat out and the beneficiary probably doesn't receive it all on his end if its a "cash gift". Charitable donations are usually protected from taxes, cash gifts are usually taxed flat out after they hit a certain number (in the US right now i believe its tax free under 13000, they start taxing after that). Thats why churches have it so good... donations every sunday and rent free most of the time.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
