What is the final outcome of all this then? I've not followed it (I don't have facebook so it won't affect me one bit) I get that they have been selling data and they track people to a ridiculous level but what is going to change after all this shizzle?

will they just stop selling the data and tracking people to the extent they are or could it mean the end of facebook?

All the stuff I have watched on Youtube looks poorly done, everyone questioning him only gets 4 minutes, it usually takes 3 minutes 30 seconds to get him rattled and then they just pass over to the next person which give him time to regain his composure and avoid the pressing questions.

@Master Yeah but is that the most likely or worst case scenario?

I mean it seems like pretty big news unless it has just been inflated because Zucker has agreed to take the questions himself

He has refused to come to England and answer our questions.

Well said. This is not only Facebook doing this but all social media sites. Certainly something will have to happen since it has drawn so much public attention but I don't see anything major. Look at all the pharmaceutical companies that have been interviewed by congress with loud promises to change pricing and being scolded for 300 percent price gauges led by Elizabeth Warren mind you and absolutely nothing happens. Facebook will be fined and make some changes but in the overall scheme of things I don't see much happening

I don't really understand the outrage though, I'm on Twatter but I have never made a tweet and I have no followers (I don't even know how to make a tweet) but I get text notifications to my phone about boxing and the Villa, I'm fully aware that anyone can see what I'm doing but they will look at me and think I'm a sad act with no friends and no life.

how is all of this data that is being sold being used in such a way that it has been made such a big thing?

I mean has it had a detrimental effect on anybodies life? I have always avoided social media because I don't agree with how much info it gives away but isn't a lot of this about targeted adverts or something like that? is it really that bad?

by the way I'm not defending facebook or social media because I think it is evil, I just think that if you sign up to it then it is kind of you r responsibility to know what you are signing up for.

I think Zuckerberg will be ousted as CEO of FB soon unless there's a giant news story to take pressure off of him.

Well Facebook tracks not only what you do on facebook, but off of facebook and also on your phone. Facebook knows who you call, how long you talk, and probably what you talk about. They have all of the information in direct messages unless you happen to be Mark Zuckerberg in which case he's of the "protected class" so he's not subject to the rules of the peasants.

On a different topic Facebook has had a problem in being a marketplace for selling things like ivory...not good. They may also have a child porn problem.

Also the American government just completely shutdown Backpage.com which was basically a Stripper/Escort site but may have also run sex slavery. Also a sex cult 'NXIVM' and their owner Ken Raniere are getting handled by the long arm of the law.

There's a lot of this kind of thing getting stopped recently which is a great thing. No kid deserves to be sold into sex slavery.

I heard on the financial news due to the cucked zucks position on the board and stock ownership no one has the power to oust him. I didn't look into it. I don't have any faceberg stock but I wish I had bought it at 17 when it came out. I never thought the stock would do much as Facebook doesn't produce anything tangible, damn was I wrong

really, so they are tracking things outside of facebook then, as in if someone with facebook calls me then they will have my number on record?
so they aren't just monitoring people who sign up for it but also people who have purposely avoided it?

I knew facebook was powerful but surely that can't be right, fuck me if anybody ever phoned me then I'd be inclined to sue the cunts myself.

I've just checked my phone and I have got a facebook app on it (must have been on the phone when I bought it) but I don't have an account, does that mean that they are collecting data off me or do you need a live account for them to get hold of you?

Its actually pretty fucking sinister isn't it, I thought it was just a case of people not realizing what they signed up for, one of the videos I watched posed the question of whether the terms and conditions were purposely made so long purely because they knew it would stop people from actually reading it before they signed up.

Indeed, very sinister. And it may not be ONLY Facebook doing this it's quite possible that FB is working in cahoots with Google and Twitter and that data is being pooled by all of them.
