I don’t care if anyone disagrees with me but this is extremely stupid. Who cares if he is pardoned? He has been dead for decades and decades. It’s just a dumb formality that someone eventually got around to doing which will have no effect on anybody’s life.

It matters that it is recognised that Jack Johnson was wronged. Even if it has been over 100 years.

So officially pardoning someone is recognizing their wrong doing rather than just admitting the wrong doing?

Yes it is the best that can be got at this stage. The government will not admit that they did was racist and wrong.

Little known fact about Johnson

The Cotton Club

After getting out of prison, Johnson teamed with Budd Levy to open the Cafe de Luxe nightclub in Harlem in 1923. The club was such a hit that gangster Owney Madden decided to muscle his way in to take it over and force Johnson and Levy out. Once he did, Madden gave it a new name, The Cotton Club.
