Lucas, what do you want to say to your fans back in Argentina?

"Hey guys, give me a break. You all lost to France."

Thought Pacquiao looked very good. Matthysse quit much like in the Postol fight when his orbital bone got broken I think. He was too slow. Pacquiao is still a top 5 welterweight. He could conceivably beat Danny Garcia or a rusty Thurman even. I’d say Khan or Broner would make ideal next opponents n I’d def favor Pacquiao over both.

Manny Pacquiao stops Lucas Matthysse to claim WBA welterweight title

Manny Pacquiao put in a dominant display as he stopped Lucas Matthysse in the seventh round to claim the WBA welterweight title from the Argentine.

Pacquiao dropped Matthysse in the third and fifth rounds before the referee stopped it after he sent him to the canvas for a third time in the seventh.

The victory gave the 39-year-old the 60th win of his career, which also includes seven losses and two draws.

"I'm surprised I knocked him down so early," said Pacquiao.

"It was a long time ago since I've done that. I came out smoking hot."

The win gave the Filipino, who has been world champion at eight different weights, his first inside the distance since 2009.

He had replaced long-term trainer Freddie Roach with Buboy Fernandez for the contest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Matthysse, 35, had won 36 of his 44 fights by knockout going into the bout.

"We did a good job in training," added Pacquiao. "We were not pushing hard - we controlled our pace and ourselves.

"I'm no longer young so thanks to my trainer and all my team members."

Another hand picked faded slow flat footed opponent. Why the surprise? Crawford or Spence even Garcia a better choice than Matthysse.

That went pretty much as I expected. Even at this stage Pac was always going to be too much for Matthysse. I'd like to see Pac vs Mikey.

Waseem was very impressive against Mthalane, who I rate very highly, although he has been relatively inactive over the last few years and is getting up in age. That fight could have gone either way. I gave it to Mthalane by 114-113.

Lu was pushed way too early, great to see a guy challenge himself but the leap was gigantic. I hope the loss doesn't effect him badly.

Good fight for the one of the best to ever fight now i would like to see him fight Crawford. I mean not sure how well it would go but I think he would like to go out fighting a future of the boxing world Crawford.

Arum will milk another horn rematch with pac and make him win this time as he has already put Crawford into a position of champion.

Arum does this crap all the time and the gullible fans fall for it hook line and sinker...expect a big money match between Pac and Crawford to keep the money in house in a couple of years..Pac will go dormant for 18 months with political work or injuries and bring him out when necessary.

In the next few days expect from the fans:-

    1. Roach was holding Pac back from knockouts.
    2. Mayweather would never fight Manny now.
    3. No one has ever done this to Matthysse.
    4. Pac to fight the Garcia vs Porter winner.
    5. He was so fast and the power would be too much for any welterweight.

    What you won’t expect:-

    1. Let’s fight Spence next.
    2. Let’s fight Crawford next.
    3. Let’s fight Canelo next at a catchweight.

In all honesty, I’m happy that Pac can still pull the trigger against a faded fighter that Garcia exposed many years ago and he did beat horn imo..let’s just hope he fights a prime fighter before 2019 so the losses of Mayweather and Marquez is not so stained in the hardcore fans mind..

    Did we mention Khan?
