There are meetings every day between Russian diplomats, businessmen and American government officials under every administration. Lots of these Russian diplomats and businessmen are spies, so there's nothing new here. What's newsworthy in the case of the Trump campaign is that campaign officials never as a rule meet with any delegations or diplomats from other governments. Senior campaign members from the last eight GOP presidential campaigns are on record as saying they never had a single meeting with any Russians. By contrast the Trump campaign had what we now know is over forty meetings with Russians. Originally all of these meetings were angrily denied by Trump himself andother campaign members even though they were ongoing and continued after the denials. As these meetings have gradually been made public they've been admitted to but the Trump people have said no more, that was the sum total. But we keep discovering new meetings and contacts. So it does look an awful lot like an attempt to cover up whatever illegal stuff they were negotiating at these meetings.Originally Posted by brocktonblockbust
