    A couple things....

Hall of Famer Jim Brown says he’d never kneel during anthem
    https://apnews.com/5f180b59fb574148983f35252d509f30
Jim Brown has spent much of his post-NFL career fighting for social justice and change.

However, the Hall of Fame running back would never kneel during the national anthem.

The 82-year-old Brown, who championed civil rights during his playing career and became an activist in retirement, said Tuesday night that he respects players’ rights to do what they want but his preference is they would stand during “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“I’ll never kneel and I will always respect the flag,” said Brown, who spoke before an HBO premiere of “Hard Knocks,” which is chronicling the Cleveland Browns in training camp.

Brown was asked how he would resolve the anthem issue, which has plagued the league for two years.

“Well, if you take the bottom line, what are we talking about? We’re talking about freedom to express one’s self, and if you don’t break any rules then you have that particular right,” he said.

“I am not going to denigrate my flag and I’m going to stand for the national anthem. I’m fighting with all of my strength to make it a better country, but I don’t think that’s the issue. Because what is the top side? Are you not going to stand up? This is our country, man.

“We work hard to make it better and that’s my attitude, so I don’t relate to this issue because it’s newsworthy because where are your superstars? And where are they at? Aren’t they making comments?”

Protests during the anthem have enveloped the league since former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee to protest social injustice.

The NFL modified its anthem protocol in May, prohibiting demonstrations for 2018, but allowing players to remain in the locker room during the anthem.

The players’ union filed a grievance, and the change has been tabled while the NFL and NFLPA work on a resolution.

Jim Brown is a badass and he's been down for the cause his whole life. He gets it though, he still loves America, he still loves his country. I honestly don't think some of these people like Kaepernick believe America is their country....and I think that's helped by the horseshit taught in not just college but schools. Teachers and professors teach how horrible and hateful and oppressive America has always been, they hate this country and they teach others to hate this country.

Colin Kaepernick's name censored from song on Madden NFL 19 soundtrack
    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...rased-scrubbed
The erasure of Colin Kaepernick from the National Football League took an unusual turn on Thursday when it was revealed the quarterback’s name has been censored from a song on the soundtrack of EA Sports’ forthcoming Madden NFL 19 video game.

Absolutely asinine. You know the lyrics of the song, why put the song in the game to begin with if you're going to censor out his name? It does nothing but draw attention to Kaepernick who last time I checked isn't playing in the league anymore. Either play the song in full (minus expletives of course for the kiddos) or don't put the song in the game easy as that.

Might need a hotel ballroom to fit them all in, though.

Ok so I read that Nike had released a TV commercial with Colin Kaepernick in it. This prompted a verbal thrashing from Donald Trump, Nike stocks went down, and there's been talk of a boycott of Nike products in the States.

So I decided to see what all the fuss was about. The above link contains the entire, uncut commercial.

WOW..... what an offensive, damaging, improper, incendiary TV commercial!!

I can see how Trump and all of Trump Nation is so offended. How DARE Nike release trash like that!

So let me get this straight.

The U.S. (America is the entire north and south continents) is the land of freedom of speech...... but Colin gets censored by everyone, including the f*cking POTUS...... while it's ok for Hate Groups to exist and spout their bullshit uncensored.

    Got it.

Someone quick come in here and tell me why this is a bad commercial and why it deserves all the backlash it's getting.

Nike is getting slammed. Colin Kaepernick and LeBron James are the biggest jokes since Al Sharpton and Tawana Brawley. These people should be arrested immediately. Not LeBron James but Colin Kaepernick should be arrested immediately

Why not arrest Lebron also? He's pretty outspoken about the same issues Kaepernick is. Why not just arrest him also?

Throw the book at 'em. Fuck'em.

They signed him to a two year contract. It’s not just one commercial. If enough people are truly against it, it will have a negative impact. Nike was down 3% yesterday not sure about today. Could be a short blip. I think it’s more people are tired of everything becoming politicized. Nike is still the #1 sports ware maker by a large percentage so I can’t imagine the impact will be long term. It may let others gain market share

Nike is getting all this free publicity. They may take a hit in the short term but I feel they are playing the long game here.

For those burning their gear, why not just donate it to help someone else.

I fail to see the political message in the ad. Is just using Kaepernick somehow sending a sublime political message to people?

I think people are just too sensitive on BOTH sides.
