Anyways, glad you are physically unharmed. You have to carry a spray of some kind. I used to work relief around Manchester and Salford. I would finish at 10pm and it's not nice waiting for a bus in some of those areas either. Perhaps some of the roughest UK areas. I was lucky enough to not experience an armed robbery though or get beaten up. Others less so. It is grim.

Have you ever worked in Salford or in the districts of Manchester? These have some of the most dangerous areas in the country. Maybe you could apply for a job up there. Maybe you could live where my friend did who had his window smashed in and his computer stolen. I work with a person here who went to the same University as me. Had his car broken into 4 times.

I would love to see you go up there with your lip and see how that pans out.

Miles we once had some knob from Moss Side come into a pub on the estate that I grew up on boasting about how hard his manor was. He went to use the bog and someone put a broken bottle in his neck and then stabbed him. I remember the file going across my desk. Most of the class A drug violence down here was from gangs who moved down from Manchester and Liverpool thinking we were a soft touch. I have been robbed and burgled several times, until we could afford our own place I lived in tower blocks and some right shit holes, including a tent in the woods. When I lived in a shared house we were robbed once and when we found the guy who did it, someone kicked his door in and he pulled a gun out. He soon fucked off back to London and nobody was shot, because he was all mouth and no trousers. I have lived and worked in London, Milan etc. You get violence everywhere. My step-son started working nights in a wharehouse in his late teens and still does now at nearly 30. Not once has he moaned about getting on a bus in a rough spot or an industrial estate early hours of the morning.

Nobody is saying you should not use common sense but I learned very early how to defend myself and fight, having a psychopathic ex-marine step dad, an older brother, cousins etc and plenty others who wanted to have a pop. Have not thrown a punch in anger since my mid twenties and am glad to have it behind me.

Thanks Tito. yeah that is really kind of funny actually picture a guy getting down on his hands and knees and tackling someone and then his partner pulls the guy's pants down and sodomizes him right on the sidewalk in public. These two guys were high on something and so I think that hands and knees thing was just because maybe he couldn't get a good balance on his two feet. But it could be true that it was called a tabletop maneuver as I think Memphis or Fenster have indicated.

I think they're going to offer me that job because I did a really good demo that night in the classroom of 32 Haitians and West Africans in a completely black organization called CAMBA Community Development Corporation. You can Google it and check it out it's an interesting organization and I would really love to work there and they pay $26 per hour

Well that sounds really good the only thing is that the Q train stops right at Church Avenue and the stop before that is at least a mile from the school and the stop after that is about another mile away so I have to get out at the same station and there are really no taxis in that area but I guess I can try Uber. The walk is only about 10 or 11 minutes to the school but believe me those 10 or 11 minutes are very hostile and tense
