To not point out immigration at all when 8 million people have moved to a small country in a relatively short time and in turn contributed to a housing crisis, school place shortages and been a burden on the NHS is daft. A figure that is not disputed is that migration over a 15 year period cost the UK 119 billion pounds conservatively, but more likely up above 150 billion pounds. That is 6bn pounds a year. I don't know about you but to throw away that much money when it could be spent on something useful for local people seems a waste.

That in tandem with a poorly run economy will have an effect. The truth is the UK minimum wage is reasonable and you can rent a studio cheaply and though you will never live like a king (and neither should you doing an unskilled job), you can live okay. It is one reason migrants like the UK and of course the very generous benefits system that all too many in the country use and stay on year in year out. Out here it is 3 months and then snip. Gone. Get a job.

It would be better to close the borders, protect domestic jobs and rights, and of course close down loopholes and tax havens for the rich. Actually build council housing and give it to responsible people rather than ISIS fighters and single mothers.

A country needs to aspire and this is where other countries leave the UK behind with stronger public services, more cohesive family structures and better education.

A proven 15 year study of the net cost of immigration is something most sensible people would take over a 'projected' number from a contemporary Independent 'newspaper' puff piece.

I could rent a studio and live on the minimum wage. There is no contempt there. However, it is made harder when 8 million are competing for the same things. It's basic supply and demand.

When is enough? 10 million? 15? 25? You do realize that politicians, even British politicians, accept that yes, there is a problem. Even Labour who started this on the contemporary scale admitted they got it wrong. Brexit says people think it is wrong. So, what are you defending exactly? I said to close down tax loopholes and off shore havens. But the compromise is an end to immigration and to have a little self respect and believe that British people can drive taxis and work in hospitals. I went to hospital yesterday. There was no demand for overseas nurses plucked from the 3rd world. Everything functions just fine.

There is no lower form of stupidity than the racism that you and Murray both subscribe to. It is crass, dangerous and a filthy ideology with which you both like to play. If in a thread about the gross inequality in Great Britain, all you are worried about is defending some Etonian Schooled Oxford educated Neo-con, who like you has made sure that any voices who are not vehemently anti-Muslim and anti-Immigrant are silenced, then it is quite clear where your allegiances lie. Hmm. Who brought up the subject of race? Didn't George Orwell also go to Eton too? It's not about defending an individual it is about making an argument about what contributes towards a 'gap'. My argument is that open borders along with deregulation and weak government leads to inevitable inequalities of wealth. It has little to do with skin color. Most of the migrants from Europe are white.

I am telling you, on an income of 7 pounds an hour and with a hot chick who earns the same, you can pool that money and live a very reasonable life. Now you do need to have a certain Etonian charm and an ability to count to get such work or indeed entice the hot chick, who must indeed be non white, as one needs to cover ones racist tracks, but overall you can live pretty well.

People should of course not eat cake as it is filled with chemicals and gluten which will inevitably mean the NHS is even more burdened. Just eat healthily and all is good.
