Great comeback win for Kriel. I hope Licona is ok.

Very true. he's shown he can carry a crowd on the West coast and nothing sells like localized rivalries. This last fight was the smallest capacity venue he has fought at in about 7,8 years but it's new and has name affiliation. I wonder though..how far gone are the days of major networks building those type of rivalries. The brand itself of HBO or Showtime rather than a stream or the other smaller networks. A home base network and location wise. That has to be a massive loss as far as heated rivalries having a 'home' like Barrera v Morales or Izzy Vazquez v Rafael Marquez. All the way back to Inglewood Forum giving face to a massive Mexican fan base piling in for true classic trilogies like Zaragoza v Banke 1,2,3. Tell you what, put Santa Cruz v Oscar Valdez in the ring it has all the makings of doing great numbers and I'd lay down ppv for it before some of the other 'stuff' we've been asked to pay for lately.
HBO losing interest in boxing definitely didn't help him but he hasn't really had a breakout fight that created a lot of buzz. You tend to get the same methodical demolition job every time out as well, limited drama. If he was in a FOTY type fight with another Hispanic a loss wouldn't be a bad thing at all if it turned into a trilogy and moved him up a level or two in terms of popularity and commercial worth. The Frampton fights were the closest thing he's had, it's just he was Carl instead of Carlos. If HBO had still been heavily into boxing it definitely would have helped him though.
